If it were possible to leave minus stars I would... I can't comment on the establishment itself as we never went in, but if you're looking for service from a rude narcissist then this is the place for you! My husband and I were visiting Southwold with our 2 year old son and 5 year old daughter and we paused outside this building so I could retrieve my sons drink from the bag hanging on the back of the buggy, my daughter leaned against one of the chairs outside the shop. I had literally just opened the bag when a "gentleman" (term used loosely) shot his head out the door and aggressively asked if we were ready to order. I instantly knew that it was due to my daughter "using a seat" so I apologised and explained that we had just paused to get baby's drink out of my bag. I never expected the barrage of abuse that followed from this guy about paying customers etc and so I very firmly raised my voice to him (as you would expect when being verbally abused) and told him that I was simply getting my sons juice and that he was to give me a god damn minute! The bully then had the audacity to tell me there was no need to be rude before scuttling back inside to the safety net of his hovel! My husband and I were left dumb founded and my daughter was left somewhat distraught, crying and asking why the man had been so horrible to us. I have since read reviews for this place on trip advisor, as well as the replies from the owner and quite frankly, I've no idea how the hell he is still in business with the attitude he has.

In response to the owners reply, of course it's personal, you verbally attacked me in front of my children without cause, we had stopped no longer than 10 seconds before you started. And I've already stated I was rude to you in return so your attempt to redeem yourself is irrelevant and in vain. Furthermore, to record someone using audio without their permission is illegal, but please, feel free to post it online because I would welcome the response you would get from the...

I had an unpleasant, bordering on amusing, experience with the owner of this establishment. I left feeling baffled, amused, and frustrated. It was honestly the only time I’ve ever found myself in an argumentative exchange with a stranger about anything, let alone something so ridiculous. I visited on a busy May bank holiday weekend, and asked the owner if he had any dairy-free cakes as I have a dairy allergy. He pointed to a vegan chocolate muffin. I was pleased he had this as an option but I asked if there was anything else, and then clarified that eggs were fine as it was just dairy that I couldn’t have. I am aware that some people can confuse eggs as being dairy which is why I clarified that I could eat eggs. This is when the argument started! He said, “well, of course eggs are technically dairy” in an unfriendly tone. So I politely told him that eggs aren’t dairy, which he refuted and tried to tell me I was wrong. I then said eggs can’t be dairy as they don’t come from a cow 😂 and he got so unpleasant, and argumentative, telling me that they’re in the same place in the supermarket so that’s why eggs are dairy. Then, he went on an unbelievable rant, raising his voice, where he was justifying his belief that eggs are dairy by telling me he had a TripAdvisor rating; he only uses good quality ingredients; he makes all the cakes himself; he doesn’t need me coming in and telling him that eggs aren’t dairy because what would I know (the person with the dairy allergy). So to the owner: Eggs are usually next to the bakery section in the supermarket, not the fridge where the dairy should be. Eggs are laid by chickens making them a poultry product. Dairy products include milk, butter, and cream,...

This review is comprised of the thoughts of six (fairly hungover) guys who needed a survival breakfast late on sunday morning.

The owner (who it turns out is also the chef, front of house, cashier, cleaner etc etc!) looked a bit startled and explained he had very little left in the way of breakfast items as he'd been wiped out of most breakfast ingredients earlier in the morning; whatever he could provide might take some time. We weren't expecting too much and didn't fancy finding somewhere else in the pi$$ing rain so we just shrugged and pressed on with an order of teas, coffees, hot rolls and sandwiches.

Considering the guy had a few other customers too, the food didn't take that long to arrive and everything was well prepared. There was no scrimping on the portions either, they were very large. Was very impressed with this guy's can-do attitude and character, he was good humoured and jovial even though under the pump.

He even gave us a chocolate chip loaf for the journey home for some reason!

Look forward to visiting again a little earlier and...

If anyone knew Prandium of Southwold, which was a few doors down from the post office and closed in early 2020, the owner James changed location and reopened as ninedeli. As in my previous review of Prandium, the food he serves is top notch! So if you like a good quality reasonably priced lunch, make your way here if you're coming to Southwold for the day or for a short stay. It's very good value for Southwold, it is mainly takeaway based but there is limited seating. Update for September 2025, pictures are now attached of his new address in the new Southwold Business hub, in the courtyard behind the 1st parade of shops as you drive into station road and onto Southwold high street. At the time of writing, the menus will change regularly according to the time of year, it's mainly sandwiches, paninis and salads at the time of writing. Coffee is good as well. Parking. Being a popular seaside town, you may be lucky to park outside in station road, if not you may be able to park in Pier Avenue opposite or in the car park next to where the fire station used to be.
