I recently visited Lyme Regis for work and stumbled upon Amid Giants and Idols coffee shopâand what a gem it turned out to be! This was, hands down, the friendliest coffee shop Iâve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Tom was behind the counter, serving up not just smiles but also the best coffee Iâve ever tasted.
This isnât your run-of-the-mill chain like âCosta lot of Coffeeâ or âStar take your Bucks.â Itâs a true artisan coffee shop with homemade cakes and a food menu thatâs equally impressiveâall at prices that wonât break the bank. The standard of the food was exceptionalâeverything tasted fresh, and the cakes were fluffy, flavoursome, and generously portioned.
What really sets this cafĂ© apart is its unique charm. Unlike generic chains, itâs bursting with atmosphere and boasts a really cool vibe. The attention to detail in the dĂ©cor, the food, and the coffee is impeccable.
Honestly, itâs a shame you can only give this place 5 starsâthey deserve so much more! If you find yourself in Lyme Regis, donât miss the chance to visit Amid Giants and Idols. You...
Read moreLove visiting this place. It's the sort of place you discover accidentally and then just can't escape! You'd be forgiven for walking past to to some more glitzy looking outfit. That'd be a mistake. We deliberately trek 35 miles every few weeks, not only to enjoy popular Lyme Regis, but to revel in the friendly atmosphere Tom and team create. Coffee is great, food is great - cakes too. Caters for different dietary needs. Particularly like the chorizo, potato bake thing they have on the menu at the moment. Marvellous! Prices are reasonable, portions decent. The dog friendly attitude put us off initially but all have been better behaved than our three year old son! Given its location is at the top of the steep main high Street, you are going to need a good drink - give them a go... See you soon Tom, and make sure you've got plenty of walnut bread! ;-) Update Feb 2025: Visited numerous times now. Always the same warm welcome - popularity clearly evident by the number of regular locals we witness visiting. Can't think of a better...
Read moreWhat a fantastic find this was, we've been coming to Lyme for 20 years but we parked in a different spot this week and found ourselves walking past Giants & Idols. The menu board outside was what first grabbed us, it all sounded so good we headed in and grabbed a table by the bar (with a fantastic view of the cakes) I ordered a rosemary and chorizo hash with an egg on top and my wife ordered a mushroom and bean quesadilla. While we waited the place was really buzzing with an interesting crowd and some great music playing, the atmosphere was fantastic. Our food soon arrived and both dishes were spot on, freshly cooked and delicious. We finished up with 2 flat whites and a piece of cake with cream which was a particular highlight, very moist and tasty. Overall we can't recommend this little place enough, the young couple running it are obviously hard working and very enthusiastic and that carries through. We'll definitely be heading back here next time we're in...
