Nice decor and smart toilets. The only smart pub in this part of Brixham away from the harbour front. Mostly lagers, one or two real ales and a few ciders on tap. George and Liv offered help and advice and were particularly welcoming but one member seemed unable to communicate in the same manner. Our Sunday roast experience was mixed. Meats were served up on large plates in generous proportions and meats had more choices than you might normally expect, however, the silver-side beef was undercooked and chewy - certainly not given twelve hours - and surprisingly the green beens were served up with the stringly ends not cut off. Only one parsnip per dish and without any real roasting or basting and limp in texture. Cauliflower cheese came with cheese but no cauliflower! These errors would be due to lack of planning, staffing or experience in the kitchen. Would have preferred being told that the beef wasn't ready or was not available than to be served up something that gave a sub-standard experience. On the plus side, extra helpings of veg were offered to simulate a carvery and the meals / dining experience overall was enjoyable. Well worth a visit and one of the more relaxing...
Read moreThis venue has now changed ownership and had a complete refurbishment. The clientele and staff have changed and I must confess it is now a beautiful clean and friendly venue.. Came to visit my family who live in the harbour for Easter and came here Thursday night, upon arrival, as well as Easter Sunday for lunch. Arron, the new GM, is a real character and exceptionally attentive. A credit to the industry with his warmth and humour too! The entire team are lovely and are really making an effort to eradicate the prior venue and reputation. I can confirm, the business is lovely and really welcoming to all that visit. A rather fantastic singer on Easter Sunday that delivered crooning classics were delivered well. To finish: I’m a hospitality business development strategist visiting family and I am impressed with the investment of time and money along with the positive energy of a new team to ensure it’s future success. Well done to all involved. The food was great too, plentiful and tasty with the chef coming out to check All was well too... a really personal and beautiful touch. Good...
Read moreWe have been to several pubs around the harbour and town centre. They were all spot on. This pub is a massive letdown for the whole area.
Don't be the first pub you go to in this fantastic area. It's definitely the exception to the rule of how fantastic the areas shops, pubs and bars are.
Pub didn't take card, cash only. This rung bells for me. Maybe it was just some issue on the day. No explanation given.
The toilets haven't been cleaned in a very long time. Dirty, unhygienic, and on the date we went no toilet paper in the Ladies loo on top of the disgusting state it was in.
The drinks ordered were of questionable potency. Tasted more like the mixer than alcohol. This could be resolved on the day by returning them but you wouldn't bother with a run down place like this pub.
If you're going here for darts bring your own. There's three for the whole pub and they look like they've been used as a chew toy by a very angry and hungry pitbull.
Can't confirm but it was the only place I saw with...
