Where to begin?? We booked a table in advance as was a Saturday and experience has told us previously you need to do so in York and we saw people who hadn’t booked were being turned away. We ordered our starters and had at least 40 minutes wait for 2 to arrive (mine didn’t arrive so after another 15 minutes or so I queried where it was and discovered it hadn’t been done ). It finally arrived but had to eat it on my own as my companions had finished theirs. Have to say they were delicious. Then a waitress arrived asking if we would like a sweet, we advised her we hadn’t had our mains yet…clueless!! Then waited a while for mains to arrive, I ordered skewered lamb but was given lamb shawarma!!. I opted to eat it as we were attending a concert and were now short on time due to the delay of the food…what a mistake though as the lamb was of poor quality and chewy and gristly. The salad consisted of one cherry tomato and a few leaves and raw onion and the chips were also poor, trust me I love chips but couldn’t eat them. This is a recurring theme if you see other negative reviews and not a one off. We all left our mains as the chicken shawarma was also poor quality. The waiter asked if we wanted to take it with us as we had a lot leftover and we said no the reason we’ve left it is because it’s awful, he didn’t know what to say so apologised and went away. I did ask to see the manager but was informed the waiter was the one in charge, I’m sorry but if this was my business and seeing the negative reviews I would be there to deal with the problems in person!..We would normally have a sweet and coffee afterwards but unable to as were now running late for our concert so asked for the bill. I was ready to complain but the person in charge explained she had already knocked cost of our drinks, my starter and main and service charge off our bill which I accepted as reasonable. Read moreBlue Heaven? More like Blue Hell! From start to finish the experience was abysmal. We should’ve taken the empty restaurant as a tell tale sign to walk out of the door. I have never left a restaurant in so much anger in my 26 years of existence. We were forced to wait 35 mins for the waiter to even take our order. One member of our party specifically asked for no tomato to be associated with their meal due to an allergy. You almost couldn’t write what happened next… the steak arrives with the biggest tomato I’ve ever seen slapped on top of it. We found this comical at the time. I had also ordered a wrap and asked for no tomato, and to my surprise, tomatoes were loaded into my wrap, At this point it was no longer comical. The member of the party who had tomato on their steak had now left the restaurant due to the poor experience. The pizza I had ordered had barely any chicken on it and was alike to that of a Tesco Values frozen pizza. Upon notifying the waiter he told us he could not taken any money off the bill, he spoke to the chef and after waiting 20 mins he came back with an insulting £3.40 off the bill. I then spoke to the chef whose demeanour was incredibly rude. He refused any further money off the bill other than the measly £3.40. As I was here for a corporate event, I do not have to pay for the meal personally as the company will expense it. Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would. Whole experience was poor from start to finish, firstly it took 30 minutes for the waiter to take our food order . Bearing in mind there were about 2 other tables of 3 people in the entire restaurant at this point. When the food arrived it was of terrible quality. One of us ordered steak and requested no tomatoes as he was allergic. The steak arrived with half a tomato sat directly on top of it. Someone else in the group ordered a chicken wrap and also requested no tomatoes only to find the wrap loaded with them. The service was so poor the person in our group who ordered the steak decided to leave. At no time when eating were we asked if the food was okay, the steak was only taken back because we flagged the tomatoes as it arrived at the table. Upon finishing the food and having our plates cleared we raised the complaint about the quality of the food and the tomatoes in the wrap. The bill was then served with a grand total of £3.45 taken off. We contested this due to all of the issues with both the service and poor food quality and asked for a small amount more off the bill. We were told nothing could be done about the price and offered free desserts which we did not accept due to the poor quality of the previous food. Avoid at all costs the whole ordeal was terrible.
