A nice evening meal out.
The decor and ambience of the restaurant was welcoming, light and open. You certainly felt like you were walking into a nice place.
We were quickly escorted to our table and drinks ordered which came within 10 minutes.
For starters we had ‘tempura’ sea food and chicken parfait. Unfortunately the batter was way to thick to be called tempura which was a shame because I ended up leaving over half the batter due to it being too thick and uncooked on the inside. I ended up taking out the shell fish. Which I will add. Was cooked beautifully. Very well cooked. Just a shame on the batter. The chicken parfait was very smooth and full of flavour with thick cut bread and sweet and tangy onion jam/marmalade.
For mains we ordered 2x 10oz rib eye medium rare and 2 x 7oz fillet with 5 sides being 2 x chunky chips, ‘seasonal’ veg, onion rings (warning coming up) and creamed spinach. The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly to our liking which were accompanied by a roasted tomato and shallot. The sauces again were very nice. Chunky chips were fluffy and crispy. The creamed spinach was amazing and had a nice thick layer of cheese on top. Now, the onion rings, came with a thin cheese (maybe Parmesan) sauce drizzled on top. Which wasn’t stated on the menu. Unfortunately my partner doesn’t like strong cheese so this was a big no for her. Big shame. The seasonal veg, isn’t what most would class as seasonal, more like steamed/boiled standard broccoli cauliflower carrots peas swimming in a shallow pool of water in the bottom of the cup.
Overall, I would recommend and I...
Read moreBlink and you'll miss it moment when we first tried to find the place. It's called Inn in the Square which we didn't realise and phone data was poor so we couldn't Google it, but by chance we found it and it's a very warm and luxurious type of establishment. We knew it would be by the price, so it definitely lived up to expectations
Initial service was poor as we were 10 minutes early and the lady at the reception said we had to wait but didn't indicate for us where to wait and even ignored my son. She didn't seem to have much time for us wet folk.
After that though the service was amazing. Our server was a well dressed man who treat us so well, I felt almost rich at that point haha.
I asked for the gluten free options and he was very knowledgeable about which ones were safe. Three things on the sides were gf, the soup form the starters, all the steaks, and the chicken masala.
I went with the masala, not expecting it to be anything fab, and mushroom and bacon on the side.
My partner had the oak smoked steak and son had the fillet, with chunky chips and garlic bread.
They came out after around 20 or so minutes. The first whiff of the masala was amazing and as soon as I tasted it I was in love. It had a mango chutney, onion and tomato relish, flavoured rice and poppadom. The chicken just melted in your mouth. On all honesty, it was by far the best chicken tikka masala I have ever had.
My family loved their choices as well as the their sides.
It cost a lot but it really was a wonderful service and food so I really can't grumble. A birthday treat for my...
Read moreWe arrived an hour early so we sat in front bar for a drink , which was a comfortable area but felt slightly bland. Maybe some area information booklets or a book relating to Keswick would have been enjoyable. Could have done with a card with WiFi code card on the table due to bad signal inside, understandly not needed for restraunt area.
Inside the steak house, it was clean and definitely had 2 meter space between others during COVID-19 restrictions. The wall decor was enjoyable especially the cow and chicken meat anatomy. The ambience was calm and had a pleasant atmosphere.
Waiters were very friendly, definitely going out of their way to welcome us in. Everyone was well presented. NOTE when our meal was served we were asked for anything else which we didn't need then 5mins into the meal was approched again to ask if the meal was ok which it was, and that was the last interaction until we finished, which I appreciated.
Food was beautifully presented for both cuts of steak. Fantastic piece of rump, nicely smoked. The ribeye was delicious. Chips (amazing), Asian coslaw was refreshing. The sauce speaks for itself. Felt skin on onion wasn't necessary it didn't add anything to the meal.
Cheese board was a beautiful way to end.
The Brossen Stakehouse definitely deserves the reputation its earned. Recommend for others.
Compliments to the...
