I had the full English breakfast, a latte & cake. I also ate in. First of all I was extremely disappointed the breakfast was served in a plastic container with flimsy plastic cutlery which are useless for any attempt at cutting a rasher let alone toast. The toast was wrapped in foil and served cold, the butter hadn’t even melted so I know they hadn’t even buttered it straight away. The sausages were cooked very well (sliced down the middle and further grilled) & so were the turkey rashers; both tasted good as did the grilled tomatoes. The mushrooms were over cooked unfortunately & were black in colour. Baked beans were not a premium brand like Heinz as they had a strong firmness to their texture. The fried egg was cooked to perfection & I appreciated being asked how well done I wanted it. Hash browns were decent & the hottest item in my container.
The latte was delicious; a nice mellow coffee & the milk was well frothed. This was thankfully served in a porcelain vessel & not a takeaway cup.
I purchased some cake to takeaway, it looked like the Algerian traditional style & the owner confirmed it & explained how he made it himself. Unbeknown to me this was quite a syrupy cake which contained rose (or something similar). Unfortunately the rose completely overpowered all other flavours & we couldn’t eat it. It was akin to eating perfume. I’m not sure whether this is the intended acquired taste or a mistake. The owner did say that his other cakes had sold out and this was the only one left.
The customer service was excellent, the staff which consisted of the owner & a young lady were very courteous, friendly & welcoming. They had a warmth about them so I really wanted to like this place. However, I must say I came away quite disappointed. Basic mistakes made with the breakfast; the plastic cutlery and container was an abomination.
On reflection, perhaps their speciality lies in their desserts & I was just unfortunate. I would go again but only for...
Read moreLove this place. Cosy, tucked away off the main road, easy to find, family orientated, helpful and friendly staff and the owner Max just makes one feel like family rather than a paying customer. All the beverages are excellent especially my favourite; a coconut caramel latte which I’ve had in many other places like starb, ner, cost etc but the way Max makes his coffees is with love and you could easily spend hours there ordering drink after drink. The cafe boasts an upstairs cosy pool table area where you can both drink coffee and play pool. I’d recommend this place to anyone in Leicester who loves coffee or anyone just...
Read moreAn absolutely true gem of a place!!! Came upon it by accident, and how astounded I was. It's light, airy, felt like I was away on holiday from the cold, grey UK for a few minutes. The staff are super friendly, they were experimenting on a dessert and provided some samples. The coffees are sublime (best mocha I've had), and according to my dessert connoisseur wife, their cakes are just dreamy and light as air and to die for. Make of that what you will, and go pay this...
