It was a busy one for marhaba as we made an unplanned visit to the store on the day they were celebrating 20 years. They had a 50% discount on all food items .. We had come for a walk on Evington road with family from South Africa. They were intrigued by the balloons and how full the restaurant was.
We went inside and asked for a table of 10, I spoke to Sohel as I know of him through running events. He straight away said he’ll sort something out which put us at ease.
We got a table after 10 mins and sat down to where they cleaned and we ordered. The food came within minutes of waiting and wow.
We ordered: 1/4 Piri piri chicken with chips Full gazeebo chicken with chips 1/4 lemon and herb chicken with chips A mixed grill T bone steak 2 kids meal - one burger and one chicken nuggets We got 5 cans of drink too.
All the food we had was amazing and was full of flavour. My favourite was the gazeebo chicken.
Considering how busy the staff were on the day with people piling in at every chance, we got asked twice if everything was okay. I think at the end they of the day the service was brilliant and up to standards. Would definitely recommend this place for a go to meal with family.
Thumbs up to all the staff working that day - because the effort you put in was shown and we are deffo going to...
Read moreAtrocious, diabolical, forgettable and incredible, as in incredibly awful. Myself and my pregnant wife fancied a night out after long week of work and commitments. We decided to come to ‘Marhaba.’ A more accurate description of this place would be ‘Hell.’ We entered at around 8pm and left 15 years later with a teenage child, the sevice was that slow. Met a lovely couple sitting next to us who also experienced slow service, but unfortunately passed away a few weeks in to our joint wait from starvation.
The staff were miserable, you’d genuinely think each of their pet dogs or cats had been violently run over. I’ve seen more smiles at a wake. We may as well have been invisible like that Casper the friendly ghost. I could have walked up and kicked one of the staff members in the nuts and they’d still get up and wander around without acknowledging me.
After a long wait, we finally got our food. My chicken was raw, which is surprising considering how long they’d likely chased it around the garden to catch it and cook it for me. My wife’s burger was also raw, might as well have morphed in to a hyena and eaten a goat alive like they do in the wild.
As you may gather, an awful experience and I’d rather wear a live tiger round me shoulders than ever visit this...
Read moreMy husband ate in yesterday and came home with positive reviews. So I asked him to order me some food for dinner today as I'm not too well. He went in...ordered some takeout, came home and it was the biggest disappointment. The chips were stale...they just refried old chips, the philly cheese sandwich was so salty I couldn't take more than one bite...there was hardly any cheese or cheese sauce...the meat was overly salty and overcooked. It was so bad....I can't understand how you can open a new business and have such poor standards right from the first week. My husband ordered a lamb shank...£14...and half the tray was empty...barely any mash or veg...the shank itself was so small...it wasn't even one persons' portion. How can you be so stingy with portions when people are paying you good money. I really hope things improve, for the sake of other customers. I won't be eating from here again. I'm sorry. A good food business values its customers and tries their best to provide good quality food. Sad thing is...you are muslim owned...you should be serving the community in the best way with good intentions. I know my review may be harsh....but I have to be honest. I don't want others to pay for food that's inedible...
