I was really looking forward to trying this place out after seeing some videos from various food vloggers. Vloggers who I've realised seem to all review the same places with the same ratings. But that's a rant for another day.
I got myself the box meal. 100g brisket with fries, macaroni cheese and a slightly toasted piece of bread. A small sauce tub of coleslaw and their house sauce.
I get the brisket, 100g but there were only a few chips, macaroni and the slice of bread. From a guy who cannot eat more than 3 slices of pizza, I ate this with room to spare.
Onto the brisket itself. I was expecting a nice smokey, slow cooker piece of meat but what I got was a slightly tough piece that tasted of fish? I honestly had to double check it wasn't tuna.
The macaroni was generic. Was disappointed no plastic forks were offered. It's a bit difficult to eat this with your bare hands but luckily the receptionist at the Premier Inn I was staying at got one for me.
I also got a smash burger meal and two Nashville burgers for family. The feedback I got on the smash burger was that it was on the dry side but edible. The Nashville chicken was just average too. They finished their burgers however so they could not have been too bad.
Now with the meals, no dips or sauces are offered. I had to ask twice. These guys must be used to eating chips fry but surely most people need a dip of some sort? But then again, there wasn't much chips to warrant a dip I suppose
Lastly, I made the order on the phone and before I could ask how long it would take the guy hung up on me. It took me 25 minutes to make my way up, being unfamiliar with Leicester and having to settle with a route that took me straight into traffic, I still waited another 5 minutes to even claim my order as the lad at the front was busy taking another phone order. No fault of his however but his chums stood at the back could have stuck their heads out and asked if I had already ordered. My order was not the only one sat there getting cold.
All in all, a pretty underwhelming experience. I might have tried them again if I lived local for a 2nd chance but I don't think I'm missing out. If only the brisket didn't disappoint I could overlook...
Read moreAfter coming here a few times I think it’s time to leave a fair review.
The brisket is for sure good! But the portion size is quite small and couldn’t necessarily be called a meal when paired with a few chips.
The chilli messy fries are also good, however I’m not a big fan of the raw spring onion garnish. Personal preference. I have also tried the plain messy fries with no meat, and have to say, I definitely recommend getting the meat version.
The pulled brisket is delicious, though very meaty(obviously), so you have to be in the mood. The sauce it’s in is really tasty.
This brings me on to the house sauces, all of which are great. Especially the bbq.
The chips are good, crispy and seasoned.
The highlight of it all, is unexpectedly the Nashville chicken tenders. The spice mix is really delicious. Spicy, sweet and flavourful. Always fresh and very juicy!
The mac and cheese was also an unexpected favourite of mine. I’m really not a mac and cheese fan, but this one was very good. Impressive cheese pulls too.
The most disappointing thing was probably the smash burger, under seasoned and soggy. The chicken burgers are much more enjoyable since the buns don’t get so soggy. Also not big on the overuse of slaw. Better left on the side than smothered all over the burgers. At least I know for next time to ask them to leave it out.
Good range of boycott friendly drinks as well 🙌🏼
All in all, if you order right, you can get a very enjoyable, filling and cost effective meal. The food is always fresh and for the most part incredibly enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back now that we know exactly what our...
Read moreWow brisket … where have you been all my life ?
Had a hard day grating so decided I wanted to eat something decent. Always been a fan of steak and I’ve heard of brisket before but never tried it. I can be quite picky when it comes to beef and lamb as I don’t like fat
Hasn’t eaten all day so decided to go for the double up on meat option.. no regrets 200 grams didn’t seem like a lot. Had the smoked brisket box
Food was delivered and it was still hot! Very well packed and presented. Not a cheap meal at just under £25 but you get what you pay for. Quality !!
Let’s start with the best bit. The meat melted in my mouth and had an amazing flavour. Still can taste it now! Smokey delicious cut of meat
The chips were perfectly cooked with great seasoning on. Had this with the nacho cheese sauce. Few gherkins and jalapeño thrown on the chips was a nice touch
Mac and cheese was very cheesy and again cooked perfectly had something in there but couldn’t figure out what it was but only added to the taste
Finished off with the Texas bread. Tasted like sweet bread. Not had this before and it tasted nice. Really wanted to try the deep fried Oreo’s but will have these next time
Overall I’m stuffed and as mentioned can still taste the flavour of the meat. Which is banging
Keep up the amazing work guys. Deffo...
