I cannot fault the chef's execution, the food was bang on the money. One of the best lamb saag and tarka daal I've had anywhere, and that's coming from someone whose eaten it all his life, and also in the same trade. Everyone enjoyed their meal, we asked for very mild curry for the children and to our surprise they thoroughly enjoyed it. Negatives - the crab cake starter was insulting. Two small very flat discs not much bigger than a 50p coin, for £4.99! Not good enough, I'd gladly pay that if I could actually taste and see some crab. I don't take anything away from the young people serving on the night (Friday) they looked like they were trying their best, BUT, where on earth were the senior staff (hiding behind the bar!?). We had no idea what was happening. The floor staff looked lost bless them. Waited an age for starters, and then again for mains. We counted numerous times delivery drivers taking food out the kitchen but not alot of action for customers patiently waiting inside. Dinner plates came out nice and hot.... Almost 10mins before any food was brought out. Again, where are the senior staff members. When you serve food to customers who have been waiting patiently, you want enthusiastic, bubbly, confident Customer Service. Not a shy, timid young lad who looks out of his depth. We politely asked for the front door to be shut as there was a cold draft coming in onto our table. They did it but then put the air con on, which was blowing directly onto us. We politely asked for air con to be moved off us, they turned it off and opened the front door again! To end on a positive, we ordered takeaway on a couple of nights before our sit in and we would give it a 4.5 star comfortably.

During a recent leisure trip to Weymouth, five of us—friends and family—decided to dine at CHILLI'S Weymouth Contemporary Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant. The food was undeniably good, and the ambiance inviting. However, one particular moment left a lasting impression that felt rather uncomfortable. Upon arrival, before we could even browse the menu or settle in, we were informed that each person must spend a minimum of £15.00 in order to be served, even we spend £96.55. This upfront condition struck us as unusual and somewhat awkward. It wasn’t clear whether this was a standard policy applied to all guests, or something selectively enforced, which made the situation feel even more unsettling. Naturally, we asked whether the restaurant operated on a set menu or buffet model, hoping to understand the rationale behind the minimum spend requirement. But the ambiguity remained. The implication—intentional or not—was that we might not be considered capable of spending adequately for dinner, which felt unfair and a bit disheartening. While the food itself was enjoyable, the initial interaction cast a shadow over the overall experience. It’s a reminder of how important first impressions and respectful communication are in hospitality.

We live in Berkshire and this is our favourite restaurant in Weymouth, we go there every time we visit and it has yet to disappoint us. We visited again 31st May and the food was well presented, piping hot and served to correct spec. The service is efficient and friendly and the staff are knowledgeable about the menu and dishes. The restaurant itself is pristine, like totally spotless - their cleaning staff are thorough - I challenge anyone to find even a single piece of dust or cobweb in the place. I mention this because it is probably the first thing you will notice when you walk in. No restaurant is perfect, it is just the way it is with that - and neither is Chillies. The location is fine, however it’s opposite neighbour not so much - a street view search will show you what I mean. The general decor and menus are looking dated and could do with a refresh. Overall this is a really good family friendly restaurant that serves fantastic food at a decent price in a friendly and efficient manor. Well worth a visit next time you are in town.

The Owners Wife is a complete nut case and spoilt our experience twice so never again. Initial visit spent some time deciding what to order only to be told that menu was not in use (although it was on all tables!) Eventually ate (some items not even available even though on new menu) our meal and requested bill whilst still finishing meal. The bill was not prepared and took ages although restaurant almost empty (I see why) When asked the customary "every thing all right with your meal" I explained I was unhappy being given wrong menu and bill delay (we missed beginning of a film). The "Lady" completely ignored me and the staff there were clearly embarrassed, I asked her twice to respond but she turned her back. We went back a few weeks later, spent huge amount and had nice service and food but when I went to pay this horrible woman was there again and she started to have a go at me saying surprised I had come back etc. I said that I wanted to give them a second chance but she swore at me and my son and then refused to accept the discount card that I had been given earlier. I will never go there again whilst this idiot (who told me she was the manager) is still alive. PS, I deducted the discount anyway and a bit for poor service....................... ...Further to restaurant response from restaurant.....Funny woman with "funny" memory Panna Uddin - assistant manager. My first ever visit was February this year so do you actually know when Christmas is?.(just like you know the truth hay?) I only visited twice . Im glad you admit it was March when I asked for the £15 (or whatever it was) meal because YOU STILL HAD THE MENU OUT Which is why I asked for it!!! I was unaware of another customer complaining as the restaurant was practically empty (I gather this happens quite a lot when you are there judging from speaking to locals and your recent Facebook reviews- could that be why you had to change your registered address and company name (not the trading as name) last summer) . I have no problem with "Powerful women" (do you really put yourself in that category running a little restaurant?) and you clearly believe you are one who has no hesitation in swearing at customers and banning them (after I have stated I would not come back again). Thank goodness there are review sites like this so people can have a fair idea what to expect. I left it 6 months to send review because i`m afraid you simply were not on my priority list, whats wrong with that. PS, As I eat out several days every week I spend an average of over £9k in restaurants annually and have done for years so have a fair idea what im talking about - your loss, its not as if you are the only restaurant in town and thankfully I found a considerably nicer Indian Restaurant just around the corner from you towards the Bus depot / cinema- Really excellent food / ambience...

I am not sure how many Indian restaurants other reviewers have visited before leaving praise...but I have visited many restaurants in very competive areas in major cities through the UK and can honestly say this place falls well before the benchmark for what they are charging....waiters serving appeared to have little customer service training I.e no smiling. Most annoyingly we were charged for condiments which we didn't order but only ordered poppadoms and were provided with the condiments. At no point were we told that we would be charged for these. When we challenged this when looking at the bill the waiter said it says clearly on the menu we would be charged for this ?! Very very sly. Won't be coming back. I response to the ridiculous comment from the Management: "If you ordered poppodoms you would have ordered condiment" Which management school did you go to? If someone doesnt say something that doesnt mean they know they are going to be charged for it?!You are missing the point i.e providing a good level of customer service and not trying to be a smart alec ! If you dont have customer service skills you should first learn these and not jump into management. Maybe worthwhile attending some course in basic etiquette as well. Also the waiters are a reflection of the business so if the waiters are doing or acting in a way which reflects badly on you the owner ofcourse the restaurant should take steps to remediate and not say that they...
