Cod Father — Restaurant in England

I wouldn't touch this place with a barge pole! I went to this place on Bank holiday Monday 29th May.

So i got here at 6.55pm at which the lady just finished frying a fresh batch of fish, and put them in the countertop warming display. No one approached me at the desk, whilst a queue was forming very quickly behind me. All the staff disappeared, and the 1 lady who was there, carried on filling tubs of mushy peas.

It got to 7:05pm (waiting 10mins at this point) to which i "asked is anyone going to serve us?" she said no serving for 20min period, which no one was aware of, everyone had just disappeared at 6:55pm!.

Its got to 7:15pm and i eventually got served, to which we were then told, no large fish available. Me and another lady asked are you going to be serving us that fish you fried 20minutes ago?! at which they responded with yes! - absolutely unbelievable! Who on earth fries about 10-15 fish, and then disappears for the fish to be sat there for 20minutes?!? especially when theres a long queue waiting!

It gets worse... i then waited another further 15mins at the other end of the shop front where you collect, i eventually got my food at 7:30pm! A whole 35mins after i started waiting... where i was served fish that had sat there for 35mins in the display warmer! Absolutely unbelievable, i've never seen a business make fresh food, have a queue of people and think.. sod it, we're all off on our break, and we will serve you food we cooked 35minutes ago.

The staff are awful and rude, with an attitude of take it or leave it, or in my case after getting annoyed for waiting 35minutes, if i'd like a refund?!

I spent £50 on ordering 3 portions of fish and chips special and 1 cheesy balls and chips.

The don't state what fish it is that they are using, it was quite a small thin fish for a £12 fish and chips!

Save your money and go to Mother Hubbards a few doors down! The staff at Cod father think they can serve people how they want because they're the only guys splashing a bit of sauce and sprinkling some chillis over your fish and chips!

Would not step foot in this place, nor would i ever recommend this place to anyone! Sort your business...

Absolutely disgusted and disappointed by one member of staff😡. First time going with my 2boys and brother. She spoke to me so rudely when taking my order had such horrible attitude and raising her voice at me. Me being nice, i asked if she had a hard day. Her attitude was," yes i always have hard day". I did say it is nice to smile at customers. She flipped saying l," can be as i like and how i like". I told her i deal with people everday but i'm never rude or disrespectful. At that moment one of her orher members of staff tried to calm and she was shouting at him in god knows what language. Other costumes were watching and by this point i turned around and said"id like a refund ". The other gentlemen apologised on her behalf and she pushed him and said, ' i give you refund'.Her behaviour and attitude was disgusting and i wasn't going to let her treat or speak to me like that. She gave her name as Isobel which may not even be her real name. She was still sayin things in god god knws what language. She would have never spoken to a white woman like that so why me? Is it because i wore a headscarf and was fully covered? People like her should not be put infront of a business. The man apologised again which i expected but she should have, but instead gave me dirty looks. God knows how i stayed calm and didn't give her a piece my mund! I was a paying customer and she wasn't doing me a favour! . I told him that he should have better respectful staff. How dare she speak to me like that. ! If she can't understand English probably then she shouldn't be working dealing with orders or people!i have never come across a rude and disrespectful women before. Went to Cod Father on recommendation by a friend. While I really did enjoy my fish & chips, there are some points that made me give 3 stars... The main being, I was very very disappointed by the 'thin' piece of battered fish that was served at £12.99 a portion with chips and toppings. The flavour was v nice and, I was v hungry so, it took me a few moments to realise, although the size of the fish was ok, the thickness was not ok. It was mainly batter and a thin slice of fish. No flakey fish and no soft juicy fillet inside the batter which we are all so used to. Disappointing...

The other thing was the way the shop was set from inside: there were seats and tables secured with scaffolding with wooden benches for seats. It did not give a nice cosy or comfy vibe, I actually felt quite uncomfortable and uneasy, especially as I was worried my back would start hurting because of the hard wood benches. So, flavour of fish and chips was good, needs more generous Portion of fish in its thickness and, some comfortable seats needed. Would I go again? If in Blackpool, yes foe the flavour given by...
