I was here yesterday around 7 pm and My experience was quite disappointing. While the food and drinks were excellent and few waitresses were good but , the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was unpleasant. I had to wait an unreasonably long time just to be offered tap water, and it felt like no one even noticed I was there.
I noticed other waiting staff were busy and not noticing me was considerable but I observed a woman—who I later found out was in charge of the restaurant and senior staff here , was sitting in front of a laptop, chatting and laughing loudly with another female colleague (who didn’t appear to be part of the kitchen staff) for nearly an hour. I visited Francomanca many time and I experienced this issue literally most of the time with the same ladies chatting noice .They were so lost in their world, continuous chatting, laughing loudly and on and on and distracting my dining experience. There was a complete lack of work ethic and professionalism, which was very surprising.I always wanted not to express this way today I had no choice after knowing she is the main in charge , surprisingly.
Thankfully, a waitress eventually came over and attended to me later. First thing I was not happy with loud chatting and bursting , secondly she didn’t even bother to look what’s happening with the customers, irresponsible behaviour. I genuinely wonder if this is the standard of service expected at Franco Manca and few employees get paid off to sit and talk .If so, it’s quite...
Read moreMy time there wasn’t the worst however I see it as a one time thing and unlikely be returning. There are no complaints on food the pizza (chorizo) was so lovely however waiting over an hour when it wasn’t the busiest was a bit disappointing. Me and my partner rang up before going to see when last orders was as didn’t want to go late and cause there close to be delayed the lady that picked up the phone was hostile and didn’t give a time just said repeatedly before 9:00pm. When we got there the host didn’t seem happy at all which I get we all have bad days but it’s not something a host for a restaurant should really be like and pointed to the table to tell us that one but didn’t lead us there. She seemed in a rush to get away and gave us our menus and left. We wasn’t sure how to order as no one approached us until 15 mins in and asked for drinks and food. We got our drinks quite quickly however with the wait Time the drinks were gone the waitress didn’t come over to see if we wanted any more drinks until they had to come over for the food. The waitresses and chef was chatting for a while which I understand conversations but with circumstances it seemed a bit off. And the receipt/bill said OPTIONAL service charge of 2.99 where optional was a thing we wasn’t asked or there was no option what so ever. It seemed like a nice place to eat and the reviews have all been good which is a shame our experience wasn’t as good as what has been said just staff was off and...
Read moreBack to a Franco Manca pizzeria after several years abroad and having already been disappointed by the falling standards of several restaurants in the south of England, we were a bit sceptical. Glad to say that we were wrong. Our pizzas were as good as they used to be, if not better, considering that there are more organic ingredients now: well-risen dough, cooked properly, abundant excellent quality toppings. The sharer also contained fine and tasty ingredients with the right condiments. The home-made tiramisu was exceptional: we could really taste the bitterness of the coffee and of the cocoa, well balanced by a delicately sweetened mascarpone. Finally something that is worth calling tiramisu, instead of the sickly sugary concoction that unfortunately is very common in other restaurants that favour cheap sugar over more expensive ingredients. Cheap tricks…. I appreciated also to be offered the option to pay or not to pay the optional service charge, an option no other restaurant has offered us. Prices are also more reasonable than in other restaurants that cannot compete with this quality. A suggestion would be to increase slightly the size of the sharer and of the tiramisu: such divine taste should be shared...
