It's seldom I have been treated with such disdain. Our interactions with staff felt judgemental, condescending, and unwelcoming.
Upon entry, we underwent two visual checks: first by the host and second by another staff member. Both were noticeable and uncomfortable, their eyes from your head to your feet, in a rude and superior way.
Despite the restaurant being approximately 80% empty and 4 PM on a weekday, the host informed us the restaurant was fully booked, but we were very lucky on this occasion, and they would accommodate us. We didn't feel very lucky but somewhat unsettled about what may come next.
A female server presented the menus and asked us what we would like to drink. I requested a sipping tequila and a glass of water but was quickly shut down mid-sentence and told the restaurant doesn't sell shots and this isn't the establishment for people to get drunk!
I tried to explain that I had no intention of becoming intoxicated and wanted only one alcoholic beverage. I pointed out that the cocktail menu offers a Long Island Iced Tea, which includes tequila and FOUR additional measures of strong alcohol; therefore, if I intend to become inebriated, that would be the obvious choice, not a single sipping tequila.
The server's attitude was belittling, and the conversation about how I should consume alcohol echoed around the near-empty restaurant, which felt unprofessional and awkward. I then asked for a whiskey, and again, the server made reference to shots, and again, I had to explain a single pour of whiskey accompanied by water is a standard drinks order; this time, she grasped the rationale but had no clue of the selection available which led us to believe she wasn't well trained. Note they have an underwhelming selection of premium whiskeys.
We finally got past the drinks-ordering debacle and started selecting our meals. We opted for a number of the more expensive mains, and miraculously, the server's attitude went from ice cold to tepid. It felt like, up until this point, we were time wasters and had no means to spend well or should be in the restaurant.
In summary, the food was enjoyable, but the experience was dreadful and not something I would want to repeat nor recommend to friends, family or...
Read moreWe were booked in at 7:30pm, we arrive roughly 7:33 and our table wasn’t ready for us. The management were great and friendly with my young niece.
We complained during our meal, as our side salad was served to us approximately 8:30pm and at 8:50pm we hadn’t received our meal. When querying this we were told by a waitress there was a delay at it would be another 22 minutes. This wasn’t acceptable, the salad had been sat on the table for 20 minutes already and was due to sit for a further 20 minutes. Not to mention my niece was falling asleep at this point after waiting almost an hour and a half for our meals.
When we questioned this the manager came over to speak with us. His customer service skills were fantastic and he reassured us the meals were on the way and they were too eager in bringing out the salad (would this have been left sat on a kitchen side if it wasn’t bought out?)
When our meals were served to us we had two waitresses, one was fantastic and attentive moving to the other side of the table to serve food, the other was rude. As I was speaking with my niece, she stood next to me and shouted ‘Well Done’ across the table, indicating a well done stake and almost shoved this in front of my dads face at the other side of the table for him to take. The stake was also not well done, it was red inside. My dad ate this after the long time we waited but wasn’t impressed.
We had a discount added to the bill at the end due to our experience; however, we booked miller and carter due to the reputation of the restaurants and it being for a special occasion. We were let down and won’t...
Read moreFirst of all I have to say this was not what we expected. We been waiting at the entrance door but nobody came. Behind the bar a bunch of employees were just busy chatting and even if we made eye contact no-one was coming. After a while a manager came, with no a smile on his face. He just asked if you booked and took us in.Straight away a lady waitress came very quickly and polite introduced herself and took our drinks order. I think that was the only good thing happened tonight. From our table we could see a blond lady(we guessed she was manager or something) garnishing plates with her long nails (disgusting). Hair no tight up and most of the time on her phone or laughing with the kitchen staff. Another 3 member of staff were there busy chatting and watching phones. After seeing her touching everything with her hands(nails) we didn't feel hungry anymore. Sorry but this is unpleasant. Considering this is an open kitchen looks horrible. Probably if we were seated somewhere else to avoid seeing all this(touching hair, face etc, and after our food with no using proper tools).... Anyway, from our point of view regarding food safety, allergies etc this wasn't a great view. The lady who served us was well polite but we made a bad impression already, so unfortunately even if her service was great we are still disgusted. Toilets were decent but again, you expect high standards from this brand specialy when you pay £38 for a stake. No offence but even McDonald's staff are following the safety roles better. Not sure if...
