(TLDR: found plastic baked in my food. The Manager of ASK Italian Bournemouth was rude and did not take responsibility. food Hygiene issue)
We ordered from ASK Italian via the Deliveroo app. The food looked appetizing and tasted good, if not a little cold. We ordered a pizza, chips and calzone.
However while we were enjoying our meal, my girlfriend pulled a peace of plastic out of her mouth (please see pictures). She was eating the goats cheese and spinach calzone at the time. Understandably she was shocked to find a bit of plastic baked into her dinner and thus was not interested in eating anymore.
We contacted Deliveroo about this and after a good few days and multiple emails they got back to us saying:
"Thank you for your patience while ASK Italian have investigated this issue.
Deliveroo takes the safety of our customers as our highest priority and we expect all of our restaurant partners to meet exacting standards of service and quality.
Following their investigation into this issue, ASK Italian believes that all of the steps required to ensure that the products delivered are of the highest quality were fulfilled, and neither Deliveroo nor the restaurant have received any further complaints of this nature from other customers.
I'm sorry I cannot be of more help and I can only advise you that any further correspondence should be directed to the restaurant."
Se we called them; After talking to another member of staff we were passed on to the branch manager, Who made it clear that they had received contacts from deliveroo. He was ignorant towards any chance of a mistake on his branches behalf, with no level of empathy or sympathy towards our position. After persistently denying the chance of failure at any point during the manufacture of the restaurant's food. He then went on to offering us a refund, but residing the offer once we mentioned that we were considering contacting the food standards agency.
We have now contacted the food standards agency. Who we have had a few points of contact with and they have taken up our case and will be investigate the issue. The decision on our behalf was encouraged by the fact that Ask Italian, Bournemouth, didn't offer an apology, they clearly considered themselves above errors and did not provide any feedback to how they will avoid issues like this happening again in the future. This makes us worry to the level of quality checking they must perform and the unwillingness to progress or self-review.
I want to bring this to as many people attention as possible as this whole experience, has been wasteful on time and money and this branch of the ASK Italian chain has left me far from satisfied with the fact that they can provide a safe level of food management. At the simplest level Mistakes should be owned and corrected, not denied...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. I and 2 friends were seated when there was about 7 other tables with around 20 people tops. We waited 15mins before someone came to take our order. We then waited 20mins for simple drinks to be brought over, and another 20mins after that for our starters. The mains came out quite quickly after, which was good. We then sat for 30mins with dirty plates while trying to get the attention of a waitress to ask for the bill. The table next to us had been waiting around 40mins to be able to order anything. When we eventually had our bill, we told the waitress we would split the bill equally 3 ways, and had already worked the cost out. She just walked away without saying a word, then proceeded to serve plates of food to other customers. My table, and the tables to the sides of us, were all dumbfounded as to what she was doing. After a further 10mins we managed to get another waitress to take our payment. Whilst people may say "you should have paid through the QR code" we didn't want to as the service was so poor that we did not wish to leave a tip, and the code will only allow you to pay if you leave a tip. The waitress who walked away may have been in training, she may have been unaware how to set the payment up over 3 people, and that is perfectly fine, but she should have explained that and gone to get someone else rather than just walking away. In total, we spent just over 2 hours in a restaurant where there was a total of 3 starters (all the same), 3 mains, 3 simple drinks (not cocktails) and a bottle of water for the table. This was quite honestly the worst experience I have had in any Ask restaurant. If anyone from Ask wants to reach out to obtain more details or rectify...
Read moreCame to this place yesterday, i had a very warm welcome from the host, who brought us to our table, that was pretty much the most attention we there, during the 2 and a half hours we spent there. We tried to place our order via the QR code on the table, scince no one came to take our order for 20 minutes, tried the app, but didn't work. After someone finally noticed, we asked to check the system, told us the order didn't go through, and took another 10 minutes until someone came to take our order. After all of that, it took 45 minutes. 5 we placed our order, we had ordered 2 starters only 1 arrived 5 minutes after we placed the order, drinks arived 15 minutes after we finished the 1st starter, 2nd starter yet to come, only then a nice member off staff from Greece noticed our 2nd started was taking to long, from then his servie was impeccable, the main fail here was the kitchen but the biggest of them all was the male manager on duty wich clearly has lost control of the whole restaurant and was not engaged at all with staff or clients. Finally our mains arrived but wait only 2 plates arrived when there's 4 of us, by the time the food arrived for my kids' mine and my husband's was cold so again kitchen failing as they did not send the whole table together in conclusion every table around was upset as they were experiencing the same not to mention during our experience we saw 2 tables walking out without paying attention since waiting far too long for there bill, obviously will not be coming back to this place if you want a peaceful meal with your family would not recommend this place ..But have to mentioned again how amazing were the Host and the Greek guy...well...
