My partner rang your restaurant 8 times Saturday (22/06/24) from 4pm - 8pm to hopefully book a table and no-one answered at all. 🙄🤨 so therefore decided to just turn up and hope that we were able to get a table ( We walked 30 minutes from our b&b might I add). When we arrived, there was a young gent on the bar who advised us that 'unfortunately you were booked up' he didn't check to see if he could just squeeze the two of us in at some point during the evening even if it had meant us going and having to come back but this wasn't offered to us!. When we advised him of how we had been ringing 8 times his response was 'We don't answer the phone when busy' which was not busy at the bar when we arrived and I'm sure someone is around to answer the phone otherwise how are you supposed to book a table. Very disappointing service from several times of trying to get through on the phone and frustratingly no one answering to walking 30 minutes to get there and turned away without even trying to check if we could be fitted in anywhere throughout the night. This is a shame as we were recommended your restaurant and read from your reviews how good the food is. Maybe if we're in Scarborough again sometime I will try to ring a month in advance if anyone cares to answer the phone or just not bother now and go elsewhere as I feel this is...

Honestly disappointing. Travelled over 2hrs after a recommendation. Walking towards the restaurant we really got the intimate, family run feel of this place. Unfortunately it just doesn't give the same vibe inside. The staff were serving, just that, no recommendations, no warmth or welcoming feel. In a place like this the staff need to love the food they're serving and bring the atmosphere people expect. We weren't offered any drinks once we were sat for food. The fries were undercooked, which we brought to the attention of the waiter and he assured us they would be removed from the bill, we did have to query this on paying as they hadn't been. The lasagne was black and so hot it has blistered the roof of my mouth. In 32 years I've never come away with a burn from food. The garlic bread was dripping in oil. Overall quite bland and underwhelming. We felt the seating was a little off. Tables for 2 around the room with a large family table in the centre. The family had every right to enjoy their meals but for a couple wanting a relaxing meal, 6 adults, 2 small kids and 2 dogs, made for quite the opposite. Given the various spaces available throughout the restaurant it would be a much better experience with a more intimate area for smaller/child...

I've been visiting Giannis with friends/family for years. The service is always second to none. More recently we've noticed the portions of pasta getting smaller but put this down to rising prices, bills etc. Last week I ordered a pizza with goats cheese, red onion marmalde and to quote the menu 'our own sundried tomatoes' When it arrived, it had a very small amount of goats cheese, hardly any red onion and no sun dried tomatoes. Not wanting to wait for my food to be changed, as the rest of the party had their meals I just ate the middle. On clearing our plates, I mentioned it to the waitress who produced the menu and agreed with me there were no sun dried toms. There were 2 baby tomatoes, cut in half, hardly a substitite tho. I didnt hear anymore. I had expected the waitress to speak to the chef and maybe knock an amount off the bill but that didnt happen. What with Happy Hour stopping and ingredients being left off dishes with no explanation it seems the good days of...

Beautiful-looking restaurant with a charming outdoor terrace—our evening started well with a fantastic cocktail and a warm atmosphere. We were lucky to get a last-minute table booking, and the place came highly recommended. However, the service let the experience down. Despite arriving early, we waited a long time to be seated, and even longer to be served. Our starter took over 30 minutes to arrive and was tiny. Mains (steaks) didn’t come out until nearly 10 PM, by which point we were too tired to enjoy them. Staff mentioned they were short-staffed when I asked, but communication and attitude were lacking—especially from the young man handling our bill, who was unnecessarily rude. A real shame, as the setting and cocktails had so much potential. Unfortunately, we left disappointed. 50:50 whether I’d give them another shot.

We called last minute and they were able to secure a table, when we asked if they are dog friendly he said “of course if they are well behaved” which I think is absolutely the best attitude to take! When we arrived they welcomed us warmly and sat us upstairs, barely a free table in the place but it was such a beautiful vibe! The lovely waitress was knowledgeable on the menu and gave me the best recommendations for garlic mushrooms and the squid ink ravioli, the wait for food was quite long to be fair, but the freshly prepared authentic treats are well worth the wait and she did both advise it might be a wait, it also said so when busy in the menu and she was apologetic about it. I’ll be returning for sure! It’s a must!

This is an superb restaurant serving genuine Italian cuisine with fresh & tasty ingredients, service was very good and the food well presented, the seafood speciality sharing platter for 2 as a starter was amazing and the limoncello cheekecake we shared for dessert was luscious, both our main courses were very good too (hubbie had lasagne and I had goats cheese & spinach penne pasta with pinenuts), we shared a decent bottle of house red too, such a lovely treat on a Saturday night and at just over £62 we thought it was reasonable for such a quality meal and wouldn't hesitate returning and would highly recommend :)
