Response edit: We're more than happy to hold our hands up in response to being late. It wasn't until reading your reply that I knew about your preference for us to arrive before our booking time. I've since checked our confirmation email and noticed amongst the terms and conditions that this is true. Ironically we only arrvied late due to arriving at 2.10 and not wishing to turn up early and subsequently using up more time than planned wandering the town. Either way I'm more than happy to hold my hands up there.
I'll also note that I'm in no way inferring we would have completed the challenge if it wasn't for delays in the screen updating after solving the lock on the third (I think?) sword puzzle. The dancing man puzzle got our group completely turned around and I commend you for that.
Unfortunately your continued claims about no delays only confirm my complaints about your attitude. As far as I'm aware whenever we solved a lock and freed a sword you would update the screen with our next clue. This happened at a delay for what I believe was the third sword. This was noted by several of our group, bringing up comparisons to several Escape Rooms we've done in York in regard to attentiveness hence my comment about delays. You handled this by saying something along the lines of "No, that didn't happen. I was running the game perfectly." Until this point we had all reasonably enjoyed our experience. We all make mistakes, these are easily forgivable when acknowledged. This was a poor way of handling feedback, thus leaving our experience a negative one. I note the word our, since your previous comment implies everyone else in our group had thoroughly enjoyed their time which unfortunately isn't true.
I wish you the best going forward. I feel my review is more than fair noting our enjoyment of our previous experience here.
Initial review - Given two stars based on a previous overall good experience. We previously completed a police themed murder mystery which we thoroughly enjoyed. Today's Sherlock Holmes themed misadventure didn't stack up by a considerable margin. An interesting plot, but half heartedly delivered. Clues thematic, but repetitive.
Overall I would have rated the room a 3/5 if it wasn't for the host. Even upon arrival we got the impression we weren't welcome which is a shame as this was the same host from our previous visit. Effectively whenever we solved a clue we should have gotten a prompt sent via the host. There was a considerable delay with these, one of which the host informed us we didn't have (you hold these clues, so we clearly did.) and another we proceeded to shout out and show the clue but he must have been distracted from our game and left us waiting. During our debrief the host denies any delay. Based off our last visit I can only assume the host was having a bad day which he felt the need to pass onto his guests.
Its a shame, and an unfortunate end to a lovely day with friends. I would be happy to address any comments with the host should he continue to deny them/care for customer feedback (and assuming Google...
   Read moreWas quite disappointed with the room we were in (war room) we found it extremely hard and nothing made any sense , (I didn't expect it to be easy but didn't expect it to be as hard either) I've done an escape room before in York (return to wonderland) and that was 100% better as it wasn't just numbers etc it involved tasks too The war room is all out numbers and morse codes which I suppose is part of the war I didn't expect for us to win but I did expect the 3 of us to be able to achieve some clues at least but unfortunately not ..we found it very confusing and difficult and needed help with pretty much every clue
At other escape rooms they tend to put the difficulty rating for each room on their website making it easier to choose a room, this place doesn't, I did voice this to the staff at the end but was told all the rooms were the same level so I'm just hoping it hasnt put the rest of my team off trying another room perhaps elsewhere if these ones are to difficult for us (maybe it's just us been thick đ€Ł) It would of been nice to know if and how far we did actually get

It is no surprise - the design of the rooms and the sheer âgeniusâ of the questions is superb.
However, it is the attention to detail which leaves you aghastâŠthe investment of time and effort into making sure every square much of the rooms captivate interest is truly remarkable!
Visit and you will see exactly what I mean! It is this detail which says everything about the care and attention that has been lavished on the design and construction.
