Awful. Disgusting food. Manager yelled at me when I suggested that he smell / taste it. Have now realised they have the lowest poss food hygiene score ... and it tastes like it.
The saag paneer was the worst thing i've ever been served in an eatery anywhere in the world; it was a flavourless, slimy mush. They'd obviously badly burnt the pan it was in and scraped it out what they could. It smelled like a house fire.
I was absolutely starving, not eaten since breakfast and it was about 7pm. I intended to pay for it anyway so tried to eat some of the rice and drink some water to fill myself up. I picked out a couple of pieces of paneer and just pushed it around for about twenty minutes before I eventually decided to just pay for it and go somewhere else to eat.
When I asked for the bill, the waiter noticed that 85% of the food was still in the dish and on the plate so he asked me if everything was okay. I said, i was sorry but it wasn't good, and I hadn't touched the food in the dish, so he should probably taste it to see what I meant.
I thought he was getting the bill, but he brought over the manager who stood over me yelling at me. He accused me of 'finishing it all then trying not to pay for it'. I told him that I would, of course, pay for it and I had asked for the bill. I was just trying to let them know that it wasn't good, plus almost the entire meal was still on the plate, so I obviously hadn't finished it, the evidence was right there.
He kept yelling that if it wasn't good then why did I finish it. I told him to look at the damned plate, it was all still there. So then he tried to tell me that I should have told them immediately that it wasn't good. I said, I was hungry and I was paying for it, so I thought I'd do my best to try and at least eat some dry rice but that eventually I'd given up and was going to find food somewhere else, so I was just letting them know that there was something wrong with their food but I'd pay for it anyway.
He then aggressively suggested that I get it to take away - because i obviously just didn't want to pay for it. I said, I didn't want to take it away - that's why i was leaving it, it was awful and i didn't want to eat it in the restaurant or at home, but that I WOULD pay for the damned thing, and actually, I'd asked for the bill and told him at least three times that I was going to pay for it.
He threw me out and yelled at me all the way to the door. I'm just grateful there weren't more customers in there although I was calm and polite, and just insisted repeatedly that i would pay but he should really smell it or taste it and he'd see what I meant, and I obviously hadn't 'finished it'. He was yelling incoherently, that I was trying to do an eat and run and that he'd never had a single complaint before so it was just me. I can see from other reviews that this isn't true. Avoid at all costs the food is terrible and the manager can't take someone politely giving him feedback and suggesting that he taste it so he can see...
Read moreSunday evening we were picked from our Hotel up by taxi that we’d booked to take us to a well reviewed Indian Restaurant. Our taxi driver was keen to tell us that Tikka Tikka was by far the best Indian Restaurant in Scarborough and was far better than the one we’d booked. Due to his cheerful and passionate praise we took his advice and he telephoned ahead to book for us while we cancelled our original booking. Our waiter was polite and the restaurant was clean and tidy. Unfortunately and completely to the contrary of other reviews, those were the only positives on an extremely disappointing and annoying evening. While we waited for our starters we were aware of other would be diners getting annoyed at how long they’d waited for their food. Our starters came in reasonable time but were far from impressive . Dry , microwaved pakoras followed by an hours wait while other tables were served and left large amounts of food uneaten on their tables. I ordered a Special Tikka Tikka Biryani which came with an apology for being late but was so greasy and tasted of burnt oil. I had a couple of mouthfuls and could eat no more despite being ravenous. My partners veg biryani was over salted and also very greasy. Our Sag Aloo did not appear and we left our table unsatisfied and unusually for us we wasted a lot of food. It may be that this was an off night and I can only compliment our waiter on his efforts to keep the customers happy but we seriously will not be taking the over enthusiastic recommendations of our taxi driver again ! I posted this review after we returned from Scarborough and have no idea why it did not appear. The night was 19th of September , our taxi driver and his company shall...
Read moreA Proper Cracking Curry in Scarborough!
Popped in with the missus on the 10th of October, '25. We were only up for a short break and were absolutely gagging for a bit of proper, homemade comfort grub, you know the sort.
The staff were polite and really welcoming, actually. They showed real care, which was lovely. Kept checking in on us and the other tables to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the dinner. Couldn't fault them, really.
Absolutely cracking meal! The food was spot on — great taste and well presented. The portions were generous, but not daft (you know, too much), and they're well worth the money, a proper bang for your buck actually. Very reasonable prices!
I'd definitely give a shout out to the mixed kebab starter - proper gear, that - and the chicken tikka, tarka daal, and lamb bhuna mains. If you're a desi/Asian customer, they've got the spice levels just right. Hats off to the chef, Mr. Saiful, his cooking skills are fabulous. No wonder they’ve bagged the 'best chef's award' twice - we only found that out later, but well deserved, that is.
Mr. J / Javed, the maître d', was a good bloke and looked after us brilliantly. He was very polite and steered us through the menu to make sure we picked the right stuff. He knows his onions!
Would definitely recommend it and we'll be popping back in next time we're up north. Easily the best place in Scarborough for a curry and kebabs if you're after Bangladeshi/Indian - a solid...
