Got served by a very grumpy woman who was complaining to another member of staff about "problem customer upstairs". Ordered cup of tea and cake.. no prices for cake. Asked if I could sit outside.. she tutted snapped I'd have to fill in track and trace. Which I said no problem. Found out my nice mint tea was green tea. Went back and asked her to check as I didn't think it was mint and I got it came from the mint box . She eventually checked and agreed it wasn't what I ordered. I wasn't impressed with the service or the quality of the cakes. Won't be going back. First one star rating I've ever given.

Stumbled upon this place by chance. What a cracking little place. So quirky, but that's its charm..there's a lovely undercover seating area which is dog friendly. A nice touch is dog beds, for your dog to sit/lay on, instead of a cold hard floor. Our dog loved it and soon settled down. I covered her with one of the crochet blankets provided. Just such a lovely touch. Staff so friendly and the food was absolutely delicious with generous portions. We had veg curry and jacket potato. What a gem of a place.

We visited Granny's kitchen for lunch, I chose a slow cooked beef sandwich and my wife ordered a quiche and salad. Both dishes were excellent. Granny's Kitchen is a quirky little place down a little alleyway, we found it by chance, I knew my son and his partner were coming up to Richmond for a wedding I mentioned it to him and he called in later, they were both highly delighted with the place and the food. Would recommend it to anyone in Richmond.

Food is below average, as is the service. Placed our order. Waitress forgot us and the drinks were set down after the food. Cutlery is also given after the food is set down. I had jacket potato with chilli, served in a deep bowl which was odd….but it was alright and I quite enjoyed it. Partner had “Giant Yorkshire with slow cooked beef”….it wasn’t a giant Yorkshire, it was two small ones. And he complained immediately that it tasted bad and was adamant the meat is canned and said the mash tasted watery and flavourless. He was disappointed. I asked the waitress if he could swap it for something else, he had tried to eat it but hated it, she stood looking blankly….to which I realised ah this is not the kind of place that will do that, she looked like she feared asking the kitchen to swap so I just said to take it away from the table which she did. I did expect someone to attend and ask us about the food but no one did. As we left my partner was asked at the till how the food was to which he gave honest feedback, this was not well received. The woman, who I think is the “cook”…..and I use that word loosely, is argumentative and doesn’t handle complaints well. The other reviews reflect this where they think it is appropriate to argue with feedback. I do understand you may disagree and want to defend your “cooking” but at the end of the day, if you are going to ask for feedback then you have to take the rough with the smooth. If the customer doesn’t like the food then they don’t like the food. It really is as simple as that. Also we overheard another table saying their food was bad too 😂 We did however enjoy seeing the woman come outside for a vape to calm down after getting upset with being told her...

OK ish place to eat but the small breakfast is more akin to a childs meal in size. We did mention this on paying and the lady who seemed to be in charge said it is as described, but I slightly take issue with that as the portion size of the beans was very small (not expensive), the egg was small, the two pieces of toast were from a small granny style loaf (although the bread was nice), and the orange juice was a very low grade . The service was good and the food was all well cooked - so what there was of it we enjoyed. However there is a more important overarching element and that is the quality of the surroundings and level of fit out. Its again OK, but roofing over a courtyard with thin polycarbonate and finishing interior with fence slatting cut into bits around the windows is very low grade. It also felt pretty damp inside. Some may enjoy the rustic feel, but not for us. Small breakfast was ÂŁ6.95, orange ÂŁ2. I have been to many places where similar is offered and you get better. Maybe its a Richmond thing, but restaurants such as Elixor just around the corner are way better value and environment. Breakfast there is ÂŁ9.95 but massive and high grade. Cafes in Richmond seem...

Had Yorkshire puddings in beef sauce. Unfortunately, it wasn’t up to restaurant standard, so I stopped eating it. I gave my feedback politely, but the staff seemed absolutely horrified by what I had to say. They never offered to remove the item from the bill. They claimed I’d eaten most of it, but the truth is that most of the meal was just sauce.

Note to the restaurant: just because something is slow cooked doesn’t make it good. You could slow cook roadkill, but that wouldn’t make it taste any better. I also heard other diners mumbling under their breath about the food, which says a lot. It’s a real shame, as we were genuinely looking forward to our meals.

I can also see from the way the owner responds to negative reviews that they simply can’t handle criticism. If your food is bad, it’s bad, you need to listen when people tell you that. You can’t force people to like your food. Someone clearly hasn’t watched Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares before. Can’t believe you’ve got the audacity to get upset with people who don’t like...
