KJ's Charcoal Grill — Restaurant in England

I popped into KJs after a long day, craving a little Mediterranean magic. What I got was... let’s call it a kebab-shaped shrug.

The menu was standard Turkish takeaway fare, but the enthusiasm from the guy at the counter made me wonder if he’d been forced to fight the lamb himself. I ordered a house special kebab. It took 30 minutes, despite there being literally no one else there. Maybe the chicken needed convincing.

The chicken and lamb was okay-ish, the salad was the bare minimum, and the sauce tasted like it came out of a bottle labelled “Generic Chilli Sauce: For All Your Bland Needs.” It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t exactly transport me to Istanbul, either—more like a layover in “Meh-ville.”

The chips? Let’s just say they’d been fried at some point in the past week, but any crunch had long given up the will to live.

Overall, it’s the kind of place you go when you’re starving and every other option is closed. Not great, not terrible—just aggressively average. Two stars, because at least they didn’t forget...

Called in tonight for 2 kebabs only to be told cash only. Went to cashpoint. Went back ordered 2 Donna kebabs to go. One with garlic mayo and the other with chilli. Salad came in separate container which was fine, there was plenty of it. The pitta bread in a brown bag. Again plenty butcwas quite hard.The Donna meat was in another container with lentils underneath which was a surprise. The meat wasn't very hot which was a shame but tasted good. The chilli sauce was amazing actually had some heat in it, unlike most shops who give you mild 🌶 Would have given 4 stars if meat had been hot. Also would have given 4 stars if I didn't have to drive...

Ordered a delivery and was told it'd be about an hour as they were busy..... 2 hours later called to check if order was still being sent. The person who seemed to be in charge...was slighty irate and said he was so busy and if I wanted it quicker then come and pick up. 40 minutes later delivery guy came with it and seemed to be slighty more pleasant 😁 Portions are very small considering we ordered the large kebabs. Tbh he'd be out of business anywhere else in the country, where there was any choice to go...
