Absolutely fantastic lunch at Le Caveau .... ambiance first class as was the service ... the food was exemplary ... this restaurant was recommended to me by their fish and seafood supplier who happens to be a golfing buddy. He explained that some chefs ask "whats cheapest" ... Mark the chef/proprietor of Le Caveau always ask whats best !!! Says everything really. I had, on Marks recommendation Scallops starter followed by Turbut and slow cooked shin of beef , dessert was creme brullee. My wife had grilled ballotine of black pudding with chicken and chorizo poached egg and pea veloute followed by the Roast Venison, and cheese board to finish, everything was absolutely amazing 👏 We had travelled from Blackpool for a day out in Skipton including lunch. We enjoyed it some much we have booked for our wedding anniversary at the end of the month along with an overnight stay at the Wooley Sheep pub which is a stones throw away and recommended by chef Mark, and are really looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic evening...
Read moreWell what a disappointment ….we have been here before several times, for more years than I care to mention…..but now under newer management……there is no doubt the food is good, but on this occasion we were seated in the entrance where in the past was the waiting area to have a drink to wait until your table was ready….so no ambiance from the restaurant …just a heater blowing hot air in the back your neck and the door to the restaurant not shutting….not a problem to us but obviously to the staff who kept trying to shut it……my husband had booked Le Caveau for my birthday so to say we were disappointed is an understatement …..we decided we couldn’t stay and to be honest the lady that welcomed us….had a “ don’t care attitude “ …which made it worse …she didn’t seem bothered…even if she wasn’t she could have pretended she was a little bothered…when my husband booked it he said it was for my birthday….anyway…it will be our last visit….and mainly because of the couldn’t care...
Read moreWe have dined here three times now and everyone has been a pleasure. There is definitely a heavy leaning to good French cuisine. (I lived in France for 14 years). The staff will go to great lengths to satisfy all requests. The food is excellent, the service exceptional and there is also a very satisfactory wine list. Even under the Covid problem they seem to have time to chat to customers. On our last visit I commented about a particularly French sausage that was on the menu and not easy to find in England. When we left I was presented with a pack of 6 of these sausages to take with me!!! Not many restaurants will do that!!! We are booked for another visit in...
