As someone who loves Fish & Chips I was looking for the best place in Scarborough that served it and this place kept cropping up, I wished to visit it earlier however it was closed so I went on the Friday evening. The queue was absolutely massive for the takeaway section which to me suggested this was a good place!
I decided to eat in the Cafe section and I was very lucky to get a table as it was very busy in there too and there were people who tried to come in afterwards having to unfortunately be told it was full. It is a small cafe with only a few tables so please bear this mind when visiting, try to visit early if you can.
I was greeted by the wonderful Sally, she was very attentive and an absolute sweetheart, she asked if everything was ok with the food and just made sure everything was ok, she made everyone feel welcome, people like her are very rare in this day and age in Customer Service and I appreciated that more than anything else as she was so lovely.
I had the Cod & Chips which was If I remember correctly £10.95? (As of Writing) and I have to say it was cooked absolutely beautifully, I don't mind waiting a while for Fish & Chips if it is cooked well and my goodness this was! It was simply melt in the mouth and to be honest this completely blew away 2 venues I visited at Whitby on separate trips, for starters the price I thought was very good and much better than Whitby, and the quality? It was simply Fantastic! I could tell this was cooked fresh and it tasted absolutely delicious!
Without an Absolute Shadow Of A Doubt I would highly recommend visiting Lifeboat Fish Bar, stop going to the bigger chains (Papa's, Wetherspoons etc..) And support your Local Businesses! They need us as much as we need them. 10/10 for this venue and I will most certainly be returning on my next trip to...
Read moreWhilst on a half term day out with the kids and their mates, we stumbled across this tucked away gem. We had been for a day at Alpamare, swimming and messing about, been to the sea front and had worked up an appetite so it was definitely time for fish n chips. We tried to find a chippy that had seating inside and also could feed us , the seafront ones were either closed, no seating or completely full, we managed to see the lifeboat out of the corner of our eye and headed towards it. We were greeted by the most hospitable last, who was extremely polite, listened to what we had to ask and without being patronising, told us that the restaurant was full. We opted for take away instead, which the last was happy to organise. Not easy when you have 2 adults and 5 kids all trying to order at once..... By the time the order was complete and read back to us a table had become available in the restaurant area, we were offered that table and transferred our order to the restaurant. The order didn't take long and was divine, the haddock was as fresh as could be, with a not too heavy batter and fabulous chips, perfectly fried, some of the boys had sausage and chips, we all had a drink and not everyone managed to finish the portion! No room for dessert, but we did discuss a lemon top from the sea front earlier, so we left happy and continued our day out. I said thank you to our hostess and promised to return on our next visit, we generally go 6 times a year so this will be our go to from now on! Just hope we time it lucky for a table as not a big dining area, but worth the wait if full I...
Read moreThe best fish and chips we have had in Scarborough. Tasted delicious, non greasy and perfect portion sizes. We love how you do kids sized portions for a really reasonable price- as we found that many other restaurants don’t offer this (just to note the picture of my daughter eating her portion- had devoured most of it already). I also love the fact that you are actively trying to be as eco friendly as you can- my daughter wanted a cone and you had cardboard alternatives rather than the foam- not only delicious food but eco responsive too- well done! The lady who was front of house was really polite and friendly- even though it was really busy - the service was seamless and with a smile- my little girl was excited to pop her head in and say thank you again on our way home. The main fryer man whom we presumed was joint owner with the lady- was incredibly attentive to the orders he was getting and was dressed really smart- just adds another reason to return- as all was really clean, staff were smart and happy! We noticed the 5 star food hygiene cert too- which I always look for. A gorgeous hidden gem- situated just at the corner of the car park we always use opposite the famous joke...
