Kids wanted to try lobster 🦞 whilst in Scarborough...they been banging on at me for a while so took the plunge. After a quick google search we ended up here. When we turned up it was absolutely rammed with a mature crowd, which was a good sign for me. Quite a small place 30 seat onwards we initially had to sit in the corner till a table came free, which worked great for me and the two kids as we was happily playing cards whilst looking over Scarborough beach.
We had ordered crab sandwich for my youngest, which came with crisps, salad and the sandwich was fully loaded with an inch of crab meat on the Sarine She absolutely loved it. Second child had the prawns in chorizo and tomato sauce. She absolutely loved it and couldn't eat it all as the portion size was hefty.
Now for the star the show my surf and turf...the steak 🥩 oh my days it was cooked to perfection...rare and absolutely lovely. Alongside the steak in the big metal tin bowl I had was some fantastic beer batter onions rings and followed by some cheeky chargrilled tomatoes. Also the star of the show a full lobster, which the kids complete stole the show. By this I mean I was clueless what to do with the lobster, however I guess I have YouTube to thank here as my kids decided with the tools provided to the with lobster. They had the whole task to hand, within minutes they was dissecting the lobster as if were a scene out of Casualty. Any way, they both ate the lobster between them and absolutely loved it. They ate the whole thing! It also came with old school chips which where out of this world. Chunky old fashioned and cooked in chip pan. Youngest had an Oreo cake which was also awesome. Would definitely go again. Price was reasonable for the quality of food.

Read moreEdited to add new review 2024- Came here with my parents and adult son for an early Christmas lunch. Treated ourselves to the hot seafood platters plus lobster- son had scampi and chips followed by the mango and passion fruit cheesecake.
The food is uniformly excellent. Fresh, well-cooked, delicious. They could literally sell me just a cup of the broth from the bottom of the platter, it was so rich and flavoursome.
Even better than the food is the service. My son is autistic and was quietly struggling to regulate his stress levels due to a mix up with the powerbank we brought for his phone. Without us explaining, the waiter clearly picked up on the situation and effortlessly resolved things, accommodating my son without making him feel singled out or like he was causing a problem. It was incredible empathy, kindness, and inclusion that really saved the day for us and lead to my son saying we'd had a perfect day. I cannot speak more highly of the staff here.
My son also said they served the best scampi he's ever had and definitely wants to come back again one day. 2023- Chowder and margaritas were superb. We had the small portion and it was still very generous. Staff were lovely. For the lactose-intolerant among us, it's well worth taking a lactase supplement to enjoy the chowder (sorry, I think I left mine behind on the table). Absolutely baffled by the man who looked at all the amazing things on the menu then ordered a jacket potato with tuna. It did look like an excellent potato, though, so maybe he knows...
Read moreWe have been visiting Lookout on our regular trips to Scarborough since it opened and we love it. The food is beautiful and very decent portion sizes and the coffees are our favourite in Scarborough. The views from the Lookout are so special no matter what the weather. The staff are welcoming, attentive and seem to get on well with one another - lots of smiling faces which was lovely to see.
The only downside I would say is they are trying to fit in too many tables for the space. The table we were given meant that all the other customers when entering or leaving the Lookout or visiting the toilet were knocking in to us as they tried to squeeze past. Staff were even struggling to get past us and we did worry a couple of times we were going to get lobster down our backs!
I would recommend taking a table out or even doing away with the stool seats and moving a table for 4 in to that space so staff and guests can navigate around the venue without disturbing other visitors and so that people don't feel they are in the way of everybody during their visit. It's a good job we are not large ladies or we would have completely blocked movement, our chairs were in as far as they would go. You definitely wouldn't lose money by taking out one table, or moving it to where the high stools are and remove the high stools - the place is so good and popular it wouldn't make a difference to the income - would maybe improve it as it would promote or more comfortable dining experience.
We will be back next time we are in...
