When we visit Bournemouth the Mad Cucumber is our go to place. There is always such a lovely welcome for us and our dog. He literally pulls us all the way to the door :) There is a large menu to choose from and as all food is cooked from fresh, if you wanted to add or amend a dish they will always aim to please and provide exactly what you ask for. The portions are a good size, we always leave full! Remember to look at the daily specials that aren’t on the menu as well as they are regularly changing and equally as delicious. We didn’t know until recently that they also bake celebration cakes as well by their professional cake baker, we can highly recommend these. All very bespoke, check out the website and insta page to see examples. The drinks menu is large and whether you are fancying a hot or cold beverage there’s plenty of options. There is a very chilled atmosphere, and always spotlessly clean everywhere.

Generally, guys like me who don't like to plan things would agree with my review. It was my wife's bday, and guess what? i did not order a cake in advance. Being vegan, it is extremely difficult to arrange a cake in less than 24 hours. I started looking for vegan cakes and came across Mad Cucumber, i used their msging service and chatted with a person called Federica. Despite it was their closing time, Federica agreed to prepare a cake for us and promised to get it ready within 24hrs. Additionally, Federica waited an extra 1 hour the next day so that i could collect the cake after 4 pm. This shows they respect customers and are really hardworking team who are motivated to go out of the way for exceptional customer service. With regards to cake, it was simply amazing, we ordered a biscoff cake and it tasted really nice.

Amazing food and really great portion sizes. We aren't vegan, but have two people who cannot eat dairy, so going to a vegan restaurant means we know everything on the menu is ok to eat. And, wow, what a treat we enjoyed on this occasion! We ordered: - The breakfast: mushroom and spinach, sausages, fake bacon, beans, hash brown, sourdough bread and a small side salad - Porridge: chocolate and hazelnut - Pancakes: almond and cherry - Kids pancakes: with fruit - Soya latte's - Fruit smoothie All of the above tasted incredible and the portions were large. We even took away with us a biscoff brownie and a slice of lemon cake. Highly recommended, even of you don't like the vegan alternatives and just want amazing pancakes or a decent cup of coffee and a quality bit of cake.

The food is fantastic (5 stars) even if a pound or so too expensive now they've bumped up their prices more than a bit. How I miss the old atmosphere and layout though. They seemed to go Covid crazy very quickly and easily and even now there are glass screens and atrocious ambience. We used to come because it was a friendly bustling place where one could interact with others. One of my recent experiences was being smiled at by another customer as I came in. I might have liked to say hello and talk but was sat on an adjacent table with a glass screen separating us so that was impossible. I wasn't happy with that seat so when another customer came in and seemed unhappy with the seat they were given on a slight platform/alcove I offered to swap which he was happy with. If the owners could get the old ambience back I'd come nearly every day (now I live in the area -previously I was just visiting). As it is I only come when desparate for the excellent food (which is no more than once a month) rather than a general place to enjoy and hang out. Maybe I shouldn't but I expect a healthy food vegan place not to be perpetually scared of covid and buying into the agenda with it. We probably all know or have heard of someone who died but we need to decide whether to live in fear forever or interact normally. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE owners listen to this as I would so like to come regularly but can't to anywhere that makes me feel like I or other people are a biohazard. I want to enjoy myself and company and can't do that in an atmosphere of fear and paranoia. If none of that bothers you the food is fantastic and I...

The food is amazing! Truly amazing. We had planned one day breakfast here but had to come the second day too because it was so nice. I highly recommend the pancakes. It's the fluffiest and tastiest vegan pancakes I've ever had. My partner even had to order some extra to take away.

Staff is very lovely and polite. Willing to help and accommodate you. When asking to have adjustments made to the dishes on their menu or to their drinks it wasn't a problem at all. The staff didn't wear protective gear but guests are spread out and seated socially distanced from each other.

It is not step free access into the establishment or to the restrooms. They might have ramps available but I would contact them in advance if you need wheelchair access. They have baby change facilities and is in general an excellent place for families and kids.

The interior is reclaimed so the place feels very rustic with a chilled atmosphere. Make sure to book yourself a table if...

Food - Good, Price - OK, Atmosphere - Good, Cleanliness- Good, Waitress(employee) - good …. However….. I went there since 2021., not very often. The price are getting high each year. In Spring time of 2024, after had a lunch again , felt that the price was a bit high, then we didn’t go there again. After knowing that new owner runs the restaurant then to have lunch again for few times to see whether it’s worth or not. Found that the portion size was changed a bit bigger. It’s more reasonable price than before. However the owner’s attitude was not friendly making me felt uncomfortable. A month ago and yesterday, she saw us(2people) and told us choose a small table. Actually there were not many customers and still had many tables available. While we’re having the meal, I noticed that she let other customers(also are 2 people) to choose any table which they like. Don’t understand why or may be she likes customers are from...
