Milk and bean, where do I start? First of all both Chris and Freya are lovely people, in fact everyone here that helps run this place are so friendly.
Itās very clear that the intention here is to sell high quality great tasting coffee and they have the knowledge to go with it.
I love the beans they supply through cast iron coffee roasters - so much so that I often buy a bag to take home for my own machine (although thatās slowly becoming neglected since these guys got the store round the corner from my place)!
I am astounded reading some certain reviews, how anyone can give this place one star is beyond me but there will always be one person you can just never please! I think by the rest of the reviews you can read here they far overcome the ārancidā one star review.
Itās important to remember when dishing out criticism is it constructive or are you just being an arse? Itās also important to remember that independent stores start from the very bottom in the hope of working to the top so I do hope when people come here they see the busyness in a way they can appreciate than find it a way to complain about the time you may have to wait. Which I can assure is never really that long anyway - especially if youāre used to waiting at costa!!
I always have a great experience here I have nothing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLovely little new cafe to Newbury. Nice to see something other than the big chains. Hopefully everyone will support this place.
Popped in with my kids earlier for coffee and a snack.
Coffee was fantastic, probably one of the best coffees I've had in Newbury. We had a gluten free chocolate chip cookie šŖ good size, lovely flavour.
The kids had a strawberry and banana smoothie which was delicious.
Two reasons I docked a star and hopefully they will consider these points, as they have only just opened when I write this and I hope this is taken constructively. Other than the two smoothies and water there is limited drink choice for young children. They do have a good selection of sparkling juices and coke but some still juices or possibly babycinos might be good.
They also don't seem to have a toilet? There is a door at the back marked staff only and no other areas for a loo. So unfortunately my visit was cut short as my young daughter needed the toilet. If they do have one, as I say it is behind a door labeled staff only and not obvious. Perhaps a sign to make customers aware there is not toilets available.
I will definitely be back for a...

Been meaning to try MiLK & BEAN since it opened we and finally got a chance to swing by this morning.
We opted for oat mocha, oat flat white, ham & cheese croissant and a lemon knot⦠all incredibly delicious, couldnāt fault any of it. The ham & cheese warmed was my favourite. The flat white had a delicious deep roast that was quite splendidly unique in flavour. Mocha incredibly smooth. Lemon knot had a perfect tangy balance, not sickly at all.
Staff were super friendly and was always replenishing new bakes as and when. I love that the hot beverages come with water, itās the simple things! The outside spot was perfect in the sun. Even down to the quality of the cup itself, love a chunky cup. The team really have thought of everything. As a small business, I canāt wait to see them grow and get bigger and glad to say Iāve joined the bandwagon...
