We entered the bar at 6.05pm. We ordered two pizzas, olives and garlic flat bread. At no stage did the waiter say there was a delay in the service. By 6.45 the olives turned up, which I had to ask staff for. At 6.55 I went to explore how many people where in the pubs. Looking around I’d say less than 20 people. No one outside due to the rain. I asked the waitress how much longer the food would be and she said she’d speak to the chef. I walked back to our table and the chef came out screaming how busy he was serving the family of 8, who had just left. I said if they’d left why haven’t we got our pizzas????😡 I’d say that was a good reasonable question He was so angry and aggressive, screaming he was busy, and then told us to leave. We’ll if that’s how you treat your customers you don’t deserve a good review. No one said it would take over an hour for a pizza let alone 40 mins for a small bowl of olives. The table across with three young ladies had ordered two pizzas and one vegan pizza. They couldn’t even get that order right.I wouldn’t call the guy a chef because all he does is put food on top of pizzas. If that is too much trouble for the bloke he needs to find s better job that isn’t too demanding! So no I would not recommend the pub, cook because his attitude, his abuse and he was definitely professional at all considering all he was asked us how much longer for a pizza! Plus for him to tell me to leave because he didn’t like being asked a question needs to get a grip. God help him if the pub ever got busy! Absolutely disgusting service! The comment the pub made about me swearing at the cook is pure lies. The cook did not like being asked when the food would arrive. Clearly he was so stressed from dealing with group of 8 he couldn’t cope. The only person that swore was the cook. Clearly trying to make themselves look better, but...

We've used this pub regularly over the last few years but recently left there feeling disappointed :( A group of us went for my son's birthday but we felt the pizzas/value for money weren't up to previous standards, i deliberately chose to go on a Sunday to use the 'bogof' they advertise on Facebook but felt let down! We've been before as a group of an odd number and paid for the pizzas and had the equivalent number free, this time we were told we were told that as there was five of us we needed to pay for three pizzas but could only have two free.........that's not the way the 'deal' is advertised imo. I've contacted them about the matter before leaving a review but aren't happy with our experience and won't be going back or recommending, shame as I've told lots of people how good it was in the past. It really took the shine off our family night out so we didn't bother staying for more drinks, one to strike...

This is a lovely traditional pub, unfortunately it's not for us, we don't like table service. A pub is a pub for going to the bar. Covid has gone, customers should be given a choice to go to the bar them selfes. We felt the service was intimadating and over bearing staff coming round every two mins asking customers if they wanted more drinks when you could see clearly they had ample drinks in front of them, so We just had the one drink and left, unless we hear you can go to the bar we wouldn't return such ashame has it is a nice pub.

Thanks for the reply it's good to know, but at the time which was the 12 of August., my partner specifically asked you yourself, if he could go to the bar but you told him it was table service. I remember quite clearly as you was sat at the bar in the passage way on an I pad it looked like you was training a new waitress. We was told very clearly it was only...

10 stars. Brilliant pub. Most excellent barman - friendly, welcoming, funny, efficient, great at his job. Dog friendly pub. Real 'propahh' pub in every way. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options available on menu. Has outdoor seating - very nice and cosy as is covered, sheltered and has those outdoor heater things. Three lovely rooms, smart decor and with woodburners. Great range of handpulled cask beers. On the day I visited casks available were: Leeds Best Bitter, Ilkley Brewery's Blonde, Turning Point Brew Co's Lucid Dream Milk Stout, Turning Point Brew Co's Pixel Enthusiast West Coast Session IPA and Kirkstall Brewery's Pale Ale. I had the latter and it's a lovely drop. I had the veggie loaded nachos and pon my word.... what a plateful! Size of a dustbin lid! Tasty. Filling. Nommmm, purrrr. Most highly recommended. For sure I shall be returning. Worra pub!

I love to find this kind of spots! We were looking for some pizza in dog friendly place, so after quick search we find this spot. We been so happy to go there today, staff been amazing, music & vibe been spot on, and pizza/drinks were exactly what we been looking for. I think if you tourist looking for a good value food and a quick pit stop in your travel! I think it is great place to add to your trip. Also, I wish to have such spot in my own town, because I would definitively hang out with my friends to chill, have a drink and probably order some chips and pizza later on. Oh! And fire place was just great surprise after rain/snow we experience during our York visit today. Our dog definitively enjoyed it the most (staff was also very kind to treat him with some treats).

When you're a bit off the tourist track, you need to work harder and it's clear these guys do, but effortlessly. I had a gluten free pizza that is the best I've had anywhere. The base was large and the toppings were generous - none of the usual skimpy GF disappointment that tastes like cardboard and looks like a child's portion. If you hadn't told me it was GF, I'd have thought it was a normal crispy base. My wife's pizza was equally generous and delicious. Lots of different rooms, some buddy and buzzy, ours quiet and comfortable. The balance of traditional features and modern decor is very well considered. All round, excellent.
