Papa's Taste — Restaurant in England

THE WORST REVIEW YOU MAY READ -please read before booking this establishment. Reserved a table for Saturday 12 April for a dinner with me and my husband. We arrived slightly early but said we didn’t mind waiting until a table was available. The place was empty…. Was greeted by one of the employees who immediately started shouting and raising his voice at me and my partner-as we were early. We said we understood and are happy to come back in 10 minutes. He sat us down slammed down our menus still insisting we have 30 mins to eat, which didn’t make sense when I did the maths and questioned him on this.

We then said ok, we can see we are early and will come back in 10 minutes he says we CANNOT LEAVE THE RESTAURANT, this is because he’s changed the booking to early (well it was empty so why is this a problem) plus we are entitled to leave the establishment if we would like. If it was about the reservation he could change this no bother?? But tell us we have to stay and have no choice.

My partner chirped in also and challenged him on this. He then kept shouting walking off going mad. Me and partner said we are going to call BARE GRILLS which we booked for 15 minutes after. Wow that was the best place ever, service and food.

Didn’t even get to eat anything as we upped and left. Cant go to a restaurant as lovely as pie and be treated like this.

Funnily enough, while there he was the exact same to another couple who were also in there. As whilst we were deciding on where to go He goes over to another table and starts challenging them they’ve got 15 minutes and they say they’ve booked and do not the attitude awful

The food is delicious except the dakos, avoid unless want to lose a tooth. Lamb chops, gyros, soluvalki, great staff, family friendly, great atmosphere. Love, love, love

Edit: came tonight, 18.3.2023. Again the food was delicious but after having paid £190, we were asked to vacate our table 10 minutes before the two hours were over. Make sure you read the small print before booking online as there are time limits for the tables based on party size. Now, if we had ordered starters, there would have been no way that we could have been finished in two hours, by the time we had sat down and ordered, 25 minutes had already passed, then the mains took 30 minutes to arrive, leaving an hour to eat and order dessert. With a party of 8, we may well of spent more money on another round of drinks than a couple just eating. When mentioned to staff we were just told it was on the website. I’m disappointed so am...

We dined at papas taste last night. The food was fantastic albeit the portions weren't huge it was clearly very high quality and authentic Greek food. However the service we received was a little bit strange. It was as if we had done something wrong (although not sure what) because when we asked questions about the menu, the waitor just seemed to be really annoyed with us. We had missed a notice that one item as only available for lunch and before we even requested that item we were told a stern 'no' with no immediate explanation that this was a lunch item. It was just a bit weird, like I said we just felt like we had done something wrong. For that reason, we are bit put off from dining in, but would definitely order takeaway as the food...
