This is such a frustrating place. I KNOW the food can be good - i remember once, when everything was correct, it was arguably the nicest breakfast in town. However, its just nothing close to consistent - you never know what you are going to get.
We've tried this place 10+ times and I would say that 7 times the food has been bad. The biggest offender is the temperature. I am forgiving when something is not boiling hot, but I have had it where it as less than warm. The beans especially, as they are EASY and should be like lava due to the sugar content - but i've had warm beans with cold centers.
The next offender is the eggs... i don't think i've ever had a good poached egg from them on the first go. They are always hard with no runny yolk at all.
If they guaranteed hot food every time (which is the least a restaurant should do), it could raise this place to a 5 star breakfast joint...
Read morePopped in to Taunton branch on Friday 3rd May as my car was in the garage. So needed somewhere to plonk myself while I waited.
I love BTP because of the unique and slightly different from the rest, food and drinks. The food never fails and I always enjoy whatever I decide to have on the menu. Today's pick was the sweetcorn hash, with a black coffee, still water (and a cheeky brownie for after) Nom nom.
To top it off, the ladies and gents who work here are always friendly and smiling. Nothing too much trouble and all done with seamless operation. If ever there was some sort of drama happening in the background you'd never know, as all work and service is done with ease.

Read moreAbsolutely awful experience. Ignored whilst waiting to be seated then told to order via QR code and find our own table. We finally managed to get some physical menus and found a table. Ordering at the bar seemed easy enough but when our food arrived it was missing bacon. We sent it back only to be told we hadn't ordered the specified item. It was really frustrating having to explain their member of staff hadn't put it through the till properly. I consider it a huge failing in a manager when they try to place the responsibility for an error on the customer instead of their failings in training their staff.
