I remember first coming here just after it opened. Had to laugh when a guy just asked if it was one of the oldest pubs in York. I'm old but not hundreds of years old. The building however is impressive and stretches over three floors. Boothroyd and Madge sat with me downstairs while the boss went M & S shopping. A lovely timber framed building. Three real ales plus a couple of real ciders. Had a bitter from Bristol Beer Factory. Excellent. Find it just off the market. Toilets upstairs. Awful Rap music on this visit..I wonder why they removed the big C before the RAP music. Go figure says Booth, especially as I am not even nearly the oldest git in here today.

This cozy, intimate bar offers an incredible selection of craft beers, cask ales, and unique brews from around the world. The knowledgeable and friendly staff are always happy to recommend something new, making it a great spot for both beer enthusiasts and casual drinkers. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a charming medieval feel that adds to York’s historic vibe. Whether you're stopping by for a quick pint or settling in for the evening, Pivni is the perfect place to relax and enjoy quality drinks. Highly recommend for anyone visiting York.

Small pub but packed across 3 different floors so if you can't find a space on one, keep going up the stairs. Staff were really good at giving different options on a busy day. The stairs are very tight, so one way only sometimes but it's nice and cosy once you find a seat and sit back to enjoy. Have a great selection of different beers but also ciders. Would love to try further different drinks to recommend more. A brilliant little pub to go to!

Me and my best mate came here nearly every Tuesday since we met each other some time into university. It is the single most lovely pub in York, and more than a pub to us. I love this place and when I first came to uni I wished for one thing. A place where I could come by myself, bring my book, they would know me as a regular and I’d feel at home. That was accomplished especially with the wonderful staff Cal and Molly. Pivne is probably a home away from home in the moments I have spent in it in every Tuesday and I thank god that it’s around and it’s perfect. Me and friend have our booth, our back up booth, our favourite drinks every stupid little detail. And it’s been perfect, so thank you pivne I know it’s slightly weird to thank a pub but it has been one of my favourite places ever. A bloody treasure trove of memories. I probably bring my kids here and say something like ‘hey kids this is where your old man spent too much on funny sounding IPAs’. Anyway thanks pivne, you have been...

Love this pub, it's quite small but has 3 floors so plenty of seating. There's a jukebox on the 2nd floor which is a reasonable value for money. It can get quite busy which makes ordering drinks at the bar take quite a while. My only negative would be that the speakers could be a bit louder

Okay update, ive came here again and yes the speakers are louder this time however we used the jukebox again and we had to wait an hour for any of our songs to come on which fair enough, we then looked at the queue on the app to find that only one of our 11 songs were on the list and after that was green day.. very confused about that. In frustration, we then put another £2 in the machine which we used to prioritise more songs, we then looked at the queue again to see that green day was coming on again after our few... Weird, we know its not because of priority.. an explanation would be...

Great selection of beers in tap from smaller brewers, prices were also good. We arrived quite late after 11pm to be advised while ordering first pint that last orders were in 5 mins. It was a Saturday but fair enough, barman however did rush us to finish our drinks, asking us to leave while we were still drinking, so we had left by 1130. I understand they may have wanted to leave but I feel the way it was approached could have been better, it could be seen that we were drinking of adequate pace, and others were still in the building. Overall the pub itself was really nice, but I would reconsider going because of this. It did upset the people I was with who were tourists from other parts of the country. Please note that this was our first place of entry and none of us had been drinking earlier...
