Me and my best mate came here nearly every Tuesday since we met each other some time into university. It is the single most lovely pub in York, and more than a pub to us. I love this place and when I first came to uni I wished for one thing. A place where I could come by myself, bring my book, they would know me as a regular and I’d feel at home. That was accomplished especially with the wonderful staff Cal and Molly. Pivne is probably a home away from home in the moments I have spent in it in every Tuesday and I thank god that it’s around and it’s perfect. Me and friend have our booth, our back up booth, our favourite drinks every stupid little detail. And it’s been perfect, so thank you pivne I know it’s slightly weird to thank a pub but it has been one of my favourite places ever. A bloody treasure trove of memories. I probably bring my kids here and say something like ‘hey kids this is where your old man spent too much on funny sounding IPAs’. Anyway thanks pivne, you have been...
Read moreLove this pub, it's quite small but has 3 floors so plenty of seating. There's a jukebox on the 2nd floor which is a reasonable value for money. It can get quite busy which makes ordering drinks at the bar take quite a while. My only negative would be that the speakers could be a bit louder

In frustration, we then put another £2 in the machine which we used to prioritise more songs, we then looked at the queue again to see that green day was coming on again after our few... Weird, we know its not because of priority.. an explanation would be...
Read moreGreat selection of beers in tap from smaller brewers, prices were also good. We arrived quite late after 11pm to be advised while ordering first pint that last orders were in 5 mins. It was a Saturday but fair enough, barman however did rush us to finish our drinks, asking us to leave while we were still drinking, so we had left by 1130. I understand they may have wanted to leave but I feel the way it was approached could have been better, it could be seen that we were drinking of adequate pace, and others were still in the building. Overall the pub itself was really nice, but I would reconsider going because of this. It did upset the people I was with who were tourists from other parts of the country. Please note that this was our first place of entry and none of us had been drinking earlier...
