A beautiful day, so we wanted to try somewhere nice for lunch. We went to Nautico Lounge but were told there was an hour wait for food, the place was packed. The Secret Garden Cafe was completely full, as was The Old Rooms and The Galley Bistro. Pretty much everywhere was jammed, as you'd expect on a Bank Holiday Monday with incredible weather. Running out of ideas, I remembered that Rona Bar & Grill l had a lunch menu which looked interesting. I'd been there for dinner before and thought it was amazing. The place was totally empty which surprised me, not a single customer which was nice, because we had our pick of tables! We sat by the window and noticed there were only normal menus. The manager came over, we asked for a lunch menu but were told "Sorry, we don't do that on a Bank Holiday".. There was no explanation which was confusing, especially as the lunch menu is just a smaller version of the full menu. Now, bearing in mind there was a huge board outside, and a poster in the window both advertising the lunch menu, we thought it a bit odd that they'd bothered to advertise it on a day where it wasn't available. Maybe that's why the whole restaurant was empty 🤷‍♂️ No response from the owners regarding their false advertising, so I've posted this review.

Food was deliciously cooked and well plated to achieve the desired appealing look. The starters made us extra hungry for our food, which was a wonderful thing given the quantity: we had creamy special chicken with a side of rice vegetables, and Penne dello Chef. We enjoyed our main meal, dessert, and drinks. We were welcomed by a lovely gentleman who showed us to our seat in the restaurant; a spot in the middle of the restaurant away from the windows, the door, and the bar. He took our orders carefully and politely, answering our questions as we were unfamiliar with the cuisine. We appreciated that he checked in on us during our meal and served us with a smile throughout, wishing us well on our way out. The tables are well presented and decorated with high-backed, big, red chairs allowing us to sit comfortably. The restaurant is quiet with music playing at a low volume in the background. Entrance to the restaurant may think it is a small establishment, but one would be pleasantly surprised once they walk in.

Food wasn’t good as we’ve expected, it says lamb 🐑 cutlets, lamb shanks etc but it wasn’t a LAMB 🐑 It was not the first time we’ve eaten lamb 🐑 Food quality wasn’t good at all only Prawn 🍤 were the Prawn 🍤 everything which relates to lamb wasn’t a lamb 🐑 I love food and traveled many places for a good quality food but when I asked the waiter he said yes sir it’s lamb 🐑, the cutlets were so thick, chunky and the bones were very big for the lamb 🐑 as far as I know it was a SHEEP or a GOAT 🐐 Great location and atmosphere other than the food 🥘 🤐, Baklava is the best at Turkish places. But to be fair I couldn’t enjoy my main meal. I hope they are reading this and come over the obstacles, selection of meat and cut is very important in restaurants field.

Booked for 7pm arrived slightly before. And were shown to our table. Waited for nearly 40 minutes before a drinks order was taken and then waited another 15minutes for a food order to be taken. We were in the corner of the restaurant and looked like we were forgotten about as other tables were sat and ordered straight away. One table even having there starters and mains before we even got a drinks order.

The staff seemed more interested in video the live music rather than serving tables in our area.

During this time we overheard a table next to us query the price. Apparently because it was Valentines it was a Set Menu. At £39.90 per head. Which wasn’t advertised in their restaurant nor were they told about it upon arriving and ordering. It’s wasn’t on our booking confirmation nor were we told about it upon entering and ordering also.

When food did arrive the starters were good I must admit however once the mains arrived the food was cold and bland. My partner didn’t even finish her mains.

My glass of wine I ordered was taken before I had finished drinking it.

And when I asked for the bill we were stung with the Set Menu price, which we hadn’t ordered, seen advertised. told about or even booked for. Upon querying the price the waiter showed us their Facebook page which had it advertised once from over a month ago. We did not book through Facebook & my partner doesn’t have Facebook we booked after hearing good reviews and things about it. The excuse was they had live music on. Well working in hospitality for 10 years and being a Manager for 5 of those I just simply laughed.

From Over hearing conversations off other tables throughout the night we were not the only ones who got caught with this.

My partner had to leave as the waiter or manager (wasn’t sure who was in charge) was speaking to us as he made her upset. I paid the stated menu price for each item we had and left.

Also £8.50 for a single Smirnoff vodka lemonade...

I’ve eaten at Rona Bar and Grill on several occasions since it opened in Weymouth. It has been spot on each and every time. I have visited as part of large parties, smaller groups of friends and also on my own and each time the food, service and atmosphere has been excellent. The quality of the food and the size of the portions means Rona offers fantastic value. As a vegetarian, I have never been disappointed with the many options there are to choose from. Meat eaters that I have dined with have always commented on the high quality of the meat, and how well it is cooked. The cocktails are fabulous - one of the best piña coladas in town! The Turkish wine and desserts are also heavenly.

The restaurant is a lovely setting for an evening meal and they also offer a great lunchtime deal in the week.

With the best food in Weymouth, what makes this place truly special is the staff and their service. They are consistently warm, friendly and very attentive. Whether I have eaten in a packed out restaurant, or on a quieter day, the service has always been quick and with a warm smile.

Thank you, Rona for another...
