I've walked and ridden past this traditional whitewashed pub many times over the years, but this was the first time I've actually visited! Popped in here for lunch on my way to Stanley Park, and I was certainly not disappointed. It's a friendly local with a 250 year history (there's a blue plaque next to the entrance). Nice beer garden, and free parking round the back. Dog friendly. The two cosy little lounges are traditionally furnished, with comfy leather banquettes and large TV screens showing sports. The two girls behind the bar were both polite and friendly. And I was spoilt for choice when it came to the food! The large menu offered a great mix of classic pub favourites, curries, sharing plates, vegetarian and vegan, and there was a separate children's menu. Good meal deals, some with a free drink included. Ordered a lasagne in red wine and tomato ragu, with garlic bread and salad in a tangy dressing. The lasagne was hot, filling, well prepared and tasty. Treated myself to a honeycomb cheesecake with ice-cream and chocolate sauce for afters, and it was delicious! The wine and cappuccino were good too! Service was both quick and friendly, and prices were very reasonable. Would happily come here again.

Well... It was busy for 3 pm on a Monday, with one narrow room set for dining on this occasion, it looked as though it was possible to eat outside in the 'beer garden or paved outside area with 'cabins' sandwiched between their carpark and the main road. The Interior is faded grandeur with dust under the bench seating, chipped varnish on the chairs, and dirty fingerprints on the door areas, yuck! Food can be ordered via an app. Our 'sub' sandwiches looked as though the bread was under-baked, part-baked rolls that hadn't seen the rest of the baking. I had the fish finger sub - 4 deep fried and tasteless skinny fish fingers as well as tasteless tartare sauce and a sprinkle of iceberg lettuce. My other half had the cob sub, not much better. The saving grace was the crispy chips. Would we go again? Nope

I popped in here with my daughter today, on our way to Blackpool amusements. It's the perfect place to grab some decent food before you hit the overpriced stuff you get on the promenade. The place was really nice, plenty of parking space and a lovely outdoor area. The staff are super friendly and pleasant and the food was really good. I've been to many a pub that had far higher prices and didn't serve anything anywhere near as good, it was excellent food and excellent value. Also great to find somewhere that knows how long to cook garden peas, these were perfect. I know it's just a small thing but I hate an over cooked pea. We will definitely visit again when we're in this neck of the woods, would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Ordered kids chicken burger chips n beans. Got soggy frozen chips. Beef burger on a burnt bun with peas !! Sent that back to get a small chicken breast on a less burned bun. It's supposed to be a southern fried burger !! Same soggy chips...Just colder now...still with peas which weren't ordered. Chicken tikka with rice etc. ...of course not 😕 not even warmed through...obviously from frozen....poor tikka....no rice......Same soggy cold chips. ..small naan....cheap and leathery. Do they even know their own menu ? Definitely not as you find that you dont get the meal you ask for and what you do get is worse than poor. Partner actually ordered a burger....more of same issues there. If you don't want to serve good food. ..don't even bother. We work hard and save so we can treat ourselves to tea out now and again. Don't waste your money like we did ours. Service is same as food. ...poor at best. Treat yourself to anything...
