The Hungry Elephant — Restaurant in England

Unfortunately I never got to try the food before I abruptly left, I’d just sat down and before I had chance to order an upset female employee walked out during service and that’s okay it happens I too work in hospitality, however the manager/owner instead of a quick apology for the disruption he then proceeded to slag off the female employee to everyone in the cafe “she was drunk” “I had to wake her up at 9am to come to work” “she’s hungover” a manger has no business throwing any employee/ex-employee under the bus and splaying their business to a bunch of strangers. I instantly left when he finished announcing his staffs business to the world and I will not return, I refuse to support a business which treats its staff like that. So unprofessional and I hope she’s okay.

P.S I work in a pub and restaurant setting and the female walked straight past me and I smelt no alcohol and she appeared upset not drunk. I think...

A veteran of this place, used to work here and since I've been a loyal customer through three eras of owners. I can say without a shadow of doubt, the Hungry Elephant is the best café in Blackpool. The current owners, Nic and Steve are ever professional, accommodating and extremely amicable. The ambiance is lovely, it's a compact fit but never uncomfortable. Steve is a maestro in the kitchen and never fails to disappoint with his food. The service is always sensational and a special shout out to Liz, for her dependable and exquisite attention to detail and customer satisfaction. Prices are very reasonable, especially given the superior quality of the food when compared to the other establishments of a similar form. I would recommend to anyone. One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had. The staff are absolutely lovely too.

When I was there, there were a few people with disabilities. I suspect at least one was autistic. I noticed their food came out in lots of little separate bowls, so it didn’t touch. As an autistic person myself, I appreciated seeing this level of care and although I didn’t mention it to the staff, it was a bonus that my beans came out in a separate bowl, as I don’t like certain food touching, either.

The entire cafe is elephant themed. My favourite animal ❤️.
