Spicy Wok — Restaurant in England

Well my normal go to place for sat was closed so on the way back from my mates I decided to stop somewhere new…

Always bit risky but who wants a boring life right 😅

Not a fan of very spicy food as I find too much spice just kills the favour and you can’t taste much but fire.

I’ve been to places were this is the case. Also please note I can handle it very hot just don’t enjoy it.

This place was called spicy wok so knew I’d get a bit of a kick. It was manageable, chicken was nice and fresh and you can tell all the other ingredients were fresh as well. Portion size was big. So very impressed.

If it had a tad bit less spice and a bit more crispy then it would of been perfect. (ordered crispy chicken)

Now I didn’t ask for it less spicy and as it’s mentioned in the name I knew it would be fiery. I don’t like to alter dishes and take them how they are made

The first time my husband and I ate at Spicy Wok was absolutely amazing. We decided to go ahead and drive from Loughborough to eat at Spicy Wok for the second time. We ordered ahead as we remembered the wait time to get our food was quite long the last time.

When we arrived I asked if we could sit and eat in their shop. There was plenty of seating… we got told we couldn’t eat there. We didn’t mind at this point, we were hungry and was looking forward to digging into the food!

We drove back home (this took us 30 minutes? and got stuck in. I’m going to just jump straight into it… the crispy honey beef was covered in onion juice! The salt and pepper was also drenched in onions and peppers. We lost our appetite.

This is my first ever review on a food place and I’m sorry it had to be negative. We are just really disappointed.

Ordered as takeaway plenty of times and it’s always been a hit. My teen daughter wanted to eat in for once so we did. We try to order what we normally do but told we can’t order the make ur own boxes if we are eating it… ok fine so we say we will have the same things - chicken manchurian, veg noodles, plain chips and 2 soft drinks each. The guy advised us that one portion would be more than enough for us to share - we agree as portions have always been great when we have ordered as take out so we order one. We go to sit… food takes so long to come out. Dine in was not busy at all for this to have happened.. my guess is that they were busy serving the take out customers first ! Finally food comes out… great everything is fine until i go to pay… definitely think i was overcharged- £25 for 1 meal and 2 soft drinks 🤔 Definitely not...
