After thinking I’d booked this place for 7pm we’d turned up to a reasonably busy restaurant where they’d sat us down, only to come tell us that I’d somehow cancelled my table and must’ve double booked somewhere. Fear not, they said come back in an hour or so and they’ll be a table ready for us. Went to a local pub to consume a beer and got a call 30 minutes later to tell us they have a table ready for us now.
We turned up after shortly finishing our drinks where we greeted with our servers who were absolutely amazing from start to finish.
Every detail from the quality of paper of the menu to the bottle of wine recommended for us to the cool crockery was all absolutely fabulous.
The food was tapas style served as a set menu and was truly amazing. Flavour wise, all the dishes were outstanding and the standout was the scallops which I inevitably had to get every last drop… I know I’ve said the price is expensive but my girlfriend and I are greedy pigs but I wouldn’t have it any other way lol.
The staff were chatty and friendly, giving us recommendations for the rest of our trip in the area and one bloke who can’t have been older than 18 was absolutely class. Bailey told me he’d been working there for a week but he made it seem like he’d been there for so much longer - top man! I didn’t catch the name of the lovely lady who was also looking after us but she was another quality member of the team.

Read moreTemple says it is "MODERN. CORNISH. SEASONAL." and we looked forward to going. We were pleasantly surprised by and enjoyed the light airy space, range of dishes and friendly staff who went out of their way to help us and give good service.
So... MODERN - yes. CORNISH - hmm, not really, I didn't recognise much in the way of local ingredients on the menu. SEASONAL - a bit, but not really when you consider how much European grown salad and veg there was.
I recommend it for day time because the range of freshly made dishes available at a reasonable price. And you can mix and match to create your own bespoke and hearty lunch. Great cakes. Coffee was nice too.
I hesitate to recommend it for the evening. Not because it was not good, but because it was far too expensive for what it was. This is Bude, folks - not Piccadilly! Even though they lacked some punch and flavour to make them stand out, we liked the main dishes though we had expected more based on reputation and Tregonning's penchant for herbs `a la Ottolenghi. We had fish, which was fresh, cooked to perfection and lovely presentation. We liked the novel salads and veg dishes. Who knew you could smoke carrots?! But really, £28 per person plus sides, for this, so far away from big expensive cities? Get over yourselves.
We'll definitely be back for lunch. This kind of freshness and quality and range will surely be a bit of a wake-up call for other venues...
Read moreI had dinner at Temple restaurant. The place is really nice with a nice ambience. Serving staff were pretty attentive and very friendly. Server insisted on explaining the menu as it was "confusing", when it wasn't really. The set menu includes all 3 vegan starters, a choice of main courses, and includes sides. All you need to do is pick a main course and decide if you want any extra small plates. Starters were excellent, especially considering I don't normally eat beetroot or raw tomatoes, and I ate all of them. The cucumber starter was however described by the server as smashed avocado. For main course I had the pork collar with spiced walnut. The meat was a little fatty in places and sauce was fairly bland in my opinion. Kimchi mac and cheese croquette (an extra small plate) was very creative however, and delicious. Portion sizes of the side plates was a little off. I had 5 potatoes to myself (too many) but noted that a table of 3 nearby only had 6 between them (probably not enough). Large glass of wine felt like a generous portion and came in a carafe. All in all it was a nice evening, and with a few little tweaks could...
