My first visit to this pub was on Father's Day. I was meeting up with my son who lives in Blackpool. He had heard good reports from his neighbours about the Duke of York. Apparently the pub has been totally transformed since the recently appointed new manager started so he suggested we check it out and went there for lunch as his treat. The place was very well organised. We were met at the door by a member of staff who explained all the Covid restrictions to us without it feeling like an interrogation. We were shown to our table and were given menus and ordered drinks. All things to be expected but delivered in a warm and friendly manner. When the food arrived (Duke Burger and Sunday Roast) it was well presented on the plate, looked amazing and tasted even better. On top of that it was very reasonably priced and great value for money. The small touches like cutlery wrapped in serviettes, sauces and condiments in individual packets rather than bottles were much appreciated and so much more hygienic. The staff seemed well organised and were very polite and efficient. When we were paying the bill the manager (think his name was Matt) made a point of thanking us for our visit, made sure everything had been to our satisfaction and that he hoped to see us again. We will definitely call in when I next visit my son, hopefully before next Father's Day !! Would highly recommend the...

We went to the Duke on Friday 30 th Aug for an evening meal , on our arrival we noticed that there was no order at the bar when your waiting to order, we waited 10 minutes to order. Once we finally recieved our meal and we started to eat the steak we found that we could not get our knife through it, it was so chewy and it was full of grissle, I complained to the blonde haired lady behind the bar and she was the rudest person I have ever dealt with, so arrogant and cocky , she said I should have asked for a steak knife and it our fault, every restaurant I have ever steak at have always swapped my normal knife for a steak knife. after I went back to my table we decided before we left to ask the lady what she was going to do about our meal as we couldn’t eat it and she just said next time ask for a steak knife then turned away and started to serve another customer, she humiliated me in front of other customers. How she ever managed to get a job in hospitality is unbelievable, we would never ever set foot in that place and after returning to my hotel I was talking to some locals about our experience they said she is well known for having a awful attitude, I recommend she goes for lessons in a charm school and learn how to deal with customers with some respect , I was not the only one who complained in the venue about her attitude, we spoke to a few customers who...

We visited the Duke of York about three weeks ago. We took a seat outside and tried to download the app to order a drink but it didn't work. We waited for somebody to come and serve us but nobody did, we we went inside. A member of staff was stood on the customer side of the bar, talking to a colleague on the other side of the bar. We were informed we had to sit outside and wait to be served. We went back outside and waited and waited and waited. Nobody came out. We sat there for 45 minutes and the other people outside who had been waiting longer than us got up and left so we joined them.

This weekend we visited again. We downloaded the app before we left the house on Friday. We arrived at the pub and ordered our drinks and it was fine. We visited again on Saturday. We ordered the drinks on the app and we waited for 30 minutes but nothing arrived. We went inside to let them know and they said to go back outside and somebody would come out to us because the app wasn't working. There was one poor barman trying to serve everybody by himself. Apparently the app wasn't working. It took 1 hour 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive and then I was told they didn't have the drink I wanted. We left soon afterwards. The pub is a Thwaites pub and I would have thought they would keep the drinks well stocked especially for summer weekends...

We visited on bank holiday Monday so this review will not give them justice ☺️👍 so they didn't have a very good selection of beers and they didn't have what we wanted... But neither did the other pubs we visited before this one 😊 anyway... They were going to close the kitchen but we hadn't eaten that day and they kept the kitchen open for our meal. It was great considering it was the last thing they cooked. Burger and chips twice and beers. I think it was all under £30 but it was a much better burger than wetherspoons.
