The Flower Pot — Restaurant in England

We attended for a birthday party with our kids 3 boys, we were told they will make an exception and they'll allow the kids there till 8 if they stayed outside as its a private function, luckily the weather was fine otherwise we would have had to leave there and then. The kids were outside playing tag, not causing any issue when they were told to stop running around. When confronted the staff advised incase they break a glass? Despite their mum playing and monitoring the play at the time.. Goodness knows how any family friendly pub runs. This was meant to be a lovely family evening out for a good friend's birthday but because of the staff, we felt very uncomfortable and un- welcome, so we left early. If you have kids don't bother you be be made to feel like you're a nuisance. This is a place that I will never enter again, and I will advise others of our really upsetting and uncomfortable experience.

Understand if you don't allow children, but you do. Please don't pretend you're doing anyone a favour by extending the hours children are allowed to be within the pub if those extended hours are sitting in a seat in silence. I don't live by the rule that children should be seen and not heard and I'd rather have been told if you are! If you were to discriminate against any other demographic you would be taken to court, I never expect to be spoken down to for having children and I do not expect my young children to be spoken down to for simply being...

It breaks my heart as I have a few great memories from Flower Pot and lots of my friends would go there. Love the live music but the service is getting consistently appalling. It's not the first time that the lady behind the bar made me cringe but tonight she's been super rude to two of my friends. Both well behaved and not drunk. 1) refused to serve a drink because it's two much hassle and " if other people would see it everyone would want one", "you should have asked for the beer first before other drinks" and being generally seriously abrupt! It seems customers are a nuisance and should not bother the bar stuff. Don't get me wrong, I used to work behind the bar, I know it's hard and I have lots of respect but at the same time I cannot accept a poor service and "can't be bothered" attitude because it's not how it works.
