This pub is in a lovely location, near to the estuary, one of the nicest parts of Weymouth. We caught it at sunset, and the whole area looks beautiful, ideal for a post or pre dinner stroll. The George had some nice pub fayre, a cut above the usual pub grub. My Mexican burger was tasty and spicy with plenty of jalapeños, just the way I like it. Perhaps the bun could have been a little more moist. The coleslaw wasn’t anything to write home about, to be perfectly honest. There was a nice portion of fries. I was actually full up before I could finish. My brother had linguini which he absolutely loved. We also had a mackerel pâté which, again, got mass approval from all those who tried it. The service in The George was excellent, friendly and welcoming. The place also looks great, with a bit of character yet unfussy. A very pleasant place to have a meal and a drink.

Out of all the places in Weymouth we visited this bar the most during our stay. I would recommend booking, they do take walk-ins but it's a popular place. You can sit inside/outside - Harbour view and even upstairs seating available. 🍺Quite an extensive bar. Table service available. A general mix of people were dining / drinking, couples, groups and families suited all. 🚾Toilets situated ground floor and disabled toilet facilities. Service was astounding.🍴 Great food - we have rebooked already. ⭐️These guys are on the ball. A very supportive and attentive team. I would love to know how many steps they do on shift!! Well done everyone and keep up the good work.💕

Visited this lovely pub for a family gathering. The pub has a cozy and family friendly atmosphere, we were seated upstairs on a bigger table and there was plenty of room. The only thing I have to mention is the heat, we were really hot as the heating was on very high. But we were able to open windows so wasn’t that bad. I opted for the Fish & Chips and it was lovely! The fish tasted fresh and was a large portion too. It also came with mushy peas, tartar sauce (which was incredibly tasty) chips and curry sauce, so it was a decent size meal. Next time I’m in Weymouth I’ll definitely consider visiting again :) Thank you to the lovely and friendly staff.

Well, how can you say a thousand words about one place that prides its self on being one the best? Well, on our visit to Weymouth yesterday 10/02/24, We surely were given a warm greeting from the staff at the George Bar & Grill.

As a chef myself, the first impressions are always the lasting ones and that really didnt disappoint. Both myself and my partner were quickly seated and the fun really began! We were approached by one of the many waitresses who quickly took our order...Oh how i couldn't decide what i wanted to order first? Main or Starter first?? lol lol.

However, the wife quickly made her choices...hmmm. So the waitress asked if i needed more time!! With a cheeky grin i had to say yes, knowing that the Sirloin beef was already going to get my vote lol. It was long at all, before our starters were being served. First, "The Garlic Cheesy Bread" Crusty Bread? ........Outstanding, Tasty & definitely the fresh bread was on point!! My partner ordered Pate & Chutney as a starter, which we can say was also on point, freshly served and the pate at the right temperature.

Now.... The Mains.

I ordered Sirloin Beef and i was politley informed that the Dauphinoise potato's weren't available and i chose to have the french fries in any case. Chef's....You did it right!! The Sirloin steak was cooked right as i ordered it "Medium" and the pepper really gave it the extra taste i like when having steak. Again Outstanding and we have no complaints at all!!

A message for the land lady and for the whole team!! You as a whole team should be so proud in how you manage "The George Bar & Grill" and that you go that extra mile to really make every experience special for all of your customers.

One other thing.....The names of all the RNLI Crew around the pub is an absolute tribute to those who have given their time to rescue others in distress. Well done, that for me was heart felt and we will be back!!...

We popped in after the fireworks and staff in front of customers were asking if they could close early because it was quiet. There were people still drinking and we arrived. Staff were on phone to manger asking if they could close early, and manager said to stay open. Younger staff moaning in front of customers after the call because they could not close. Coffee machine had already been turned off. We sat having a drink and I went in for a second. Girl served me, and I asked for a vodka, she replied in a rude manner 'A what?' I repeated myself 'Just a vodka'. She poured it and put the glass down (not gently but not a slam either). I asked for some ice, she sighed and rolled her eyes. This time she did put the glass down with a bit of a slam. She said the price, not even looking at me or not even saying please. I asked for her name, (Which I will not put on here) but did report her to another member of staff. That older lady said she had only been there 11 weeks and was there to help to overturn bad reviews. She said she would speak to the acting manager. No one came back out to speak to us, however, staff did look out of the windows and doorway and looked directly at me, I heard one staff member saying 'it was her'. Seriously! is this how you want customers served. More customers arrived and they were turned away being told they were now closed. Management, you really need to supervise the staff and speak to staff about customer relations. It is shocking for staff to moan about you for not allowing them to close early in front of paying customers, this is their jobs. These girls on the 1st August are NOT a credit to your team. Shame your staff let you...

Excellent food, see photos. Only three stars though because: We had to be shown to a table, but only us: My girlfriend went to a table and I went to where it said queue here for a table, just in case. Waitress told her to get in the queue - which was fair enough. We were shown to the table my girlfriend wanted anyway, okay. But then other people arrived, sat down where they wanted and were served instantly, without queuing! We watched this happen 3 times, whilst waiting to be served!!!

Took forever to serve us, but again, only us: After watching 3 tables around us being waited on, their drinks coming, food coming on 2 tables, we have up and had to ask to be served. Something like 15 to 20 minutes waiting, I'm too patient I guess. Credit due though, drinks and then food came quickly after.

We had to pay for our drinks and food first, but again, only us: We had to pay for our drinks and food whilst we were waited on. After she'd gone, the table opposite us (who arrived after us, drank and ate before we were waited on) finished and asked for the bill!!

Finally after number 3 I FELT LIKE A SECOND RATE CITIZEN. Maybe it's because we're quiet, conservative and being well dressed in a formal shirt - others around us had t-shirts etc, maybe we should have been looking for somewhere else. Maybe this establishment is aiming at a market that's more t-shirts and shouting.

It's really confusing because the lady that served us was nice and polite, except that we had to pay in advance unlike everyone else around us. It's a real shame because the food was good, but we'll be looking...
