We've known The Good Earth since it was originally The Hungry I and did pancakes. We came here years and years ago when we first got together as a couple and call in every now and then, when we're back in Leicester. It's a bit of a nostalgia thing.
However, setting that aside, this is an excellent vegetarian restaurant serving really great food at decent prices. Lovely cakes if you've got room and I rarely have after my main meal..
The Good Earth tends to do a range of vegetable bakes in sauces then gives you the option of adding a small or large salad, loading a plate yourself from a range of salad mixes in bowls. Juices, tea, coffee, wine and beer, though the choice there is limited. Soups are always available and it is worth looking at the menu as there is quite a choice.

We would not hesitate to recommend this gorgeous little gem of a family run restaurant the next time you are in the city centre - you won't be...
Read moreThe Good Earth is a jewel in the crown of Leicester's city centre. Despite toiling up a flight of stairs to the restaurant, the aroma that that greets you is intoxicating: fresh ingredients, lovingly and expertly melded into delicious and varied confections. The first time I went with my husband, who was already a devout convert to the Good Earth, I was bemused by the hearty shepherd's pie which I wrongly thought contained meat. However, it was made with brown lentils! The desserts are varied, ranging from traditional fruit crumbles to exotic guava meringue. The Good Earth is not just an eatery, it is a haven for all those who enjoy good food in a quirky,...
