First time visiting Leicester with my girlfriend. It was a Sunday, 22nd of January.
Two weeks prior, we went to London, I told my girlfriend, who is English, she needs to try the number one chicken hamburger fast food in the Philippines so we went to Earls court jollibee. And she liked it as I expected it to be. She is not really a fan of fried chicken fast foods like KFC, Dixy Chicken, and others. She was surprised and loved the crispness of the chickenjoy paired with rice and gravy, the crispy fries, the peach mango pie, the ice cream sundea with mango and coconut and the pineapple juice. But she wasn't a fan of the sweet spaghetti with hotdog, which I understand for I myself being a Filipino don't like the sweetness on my pasta either.
Fast forward our experience in Jolibee Leicester. It was a Sunday, and it was busy. Lo and behold only two staff are working that day for whatever reason. Some tables are untidy and have not been cleared out of previous diners leftovers, and bins are overflowing of rubbish. Everyone was getting frustrated, some are walking out of the restaurant out of frustration due to the long waiting time. We ordered a chicken bucket meal with rice and gravy. I was getting frustrated. 50 minutes later we got our order, then I was told no more rice left, so I opted for some fries as a replacement instead. To add more frustration, the chickenjoy is not so much of a joy for it lost its crispyness since the bucket is left covered, sweating and sitting in the prep area for a long while. The gravy is not a gravy but off a liquid consistency I can only compare to a coffee drink.
Two people working up to 10 pm that day, how on earth jollibee UK think Two people working a bust restaurant will be able to uphold good quality food and standard of cleanliness. Don't even ask me about the toilets area. Just two people working against a horde of hungry clientèle, seriously Jollibee UK.
I think I am a just and reasonable person, and nothing much faze me, but that bad experience in Jollibee Leicester, knowing I could've had a better experience eating in PHO or trying Popeyes chicken for the first time would have been a...
Read moreI travelling 2 hours to try out Jollibee in Leicester yesterday. I must say someone who previously has worked in the food industry the manager here short mixed race lady with headscarf was the rudest person I ever met. First of all the only people who were being served food is the ones who were complaining that they have been waiting over 45 minuets for their food. There was no rush or really busy. Very poor structure and no control. Back to the manager if you guys check your systems you will see how many refunds she had made not because of the long wait it because how rude she was to customers. Firstly she never advised anyone of a expected wait time and when customers were asking how long the food will be as they have been waiting for ages and they have seen orders being served for numbers a lot higher than there’s she was giving sarcastic and rude replies to customers. The first customer who asked for a refund because of her attitude she pulled a face at him while giving him a refund. The second was a elderly couple who told her that the service is really poor they came from far and will miss there train they advised her if the wait was going to be over a hour and they were advised that then they would not have placed a order. In response to this she told them well then you should not have placed a order. I was so shocked watching this as were other customers and at the end of this conversation When the customers asked it would be nice to get a apology at least because of all this the manager replied back saying I agree it would be nice to get a apology and rolled her eyes. I’m very very shocked how she became a manager at this work place and how she is treating customers. This behaviour will effect your workers who see the manager behaving so rude to customers who are wanting a update on their order after such a long wait period when not being advised of a long wait when placing the order. Please check your CCTV and your refunds for yesterday and you will see This is a honest review. Will never ever come back here. I have also seen reviews of other people about...
Read moreNothing to write home about, £9.48 for a 2 piece chicken meal (£5.49) and a chicken burger (£3.99) pictured.
The touch screen Point of Sale screens don't put the order through to the kitchen, after two attempts at ordering my food the screen told me to order at the counter, nice lady at the counter was efficient and friendly, she was apologetic and knew exactly what I meant when I said the touch screen ordering system doesn't work.
For some reason when I come to pick up the food, it's announced by a member of staff pulling down their mask to yell out a number whilst stand over about 4 paper unsealed bags of food, after this she'd pull her mask back on her face to cover her nose and mouth and proceed to touch receipts, bags of food around her. Great job with regards to hygiene, mask is meant to be kept on and not touched for a reason she clearly hasn't grasped why yet.
The food is OK, mediocre at best, definitely not value for money when there's plenty of alternatives in the city, from this tasting, it's miles behind KFC, Bennys and dare i say it, even Maryland chicken.
The chicken is very crispy and it doesn't seem oily but it lacks flavour, feels like a dash of salt in the flour coating the chicken and that's all.
Chicken burger is nice, but at £3.99 I can find many better tasting alternatives at a similar size but lower price.
Gravy is nice, but I don't know why they gave me so much gravy, over kill there.
Standard fast food fries with salt sprinkled on them, even managed to find a raw crunchy one, but that didn't stop me polishing it off, I would think on any other day when it's not busy they'd get the fries right.
Sadly I wouldn't recommend this place, unless they think about their...
