The Kara Grays — Restaurant in England

Ive been here well over 20 times to eat and it’s always very good when it comes to the food! however it’s really worth noting that the waiters and staff are a massive let down… every person I take in here complains endlessly about being so rushed through the meal it’s embarrassing. None of my friends or family that I take here want to come back, and it’s understandable because it is so annoying to be asked over and over again by several different waiters one after another if you’re ready for your main when you only just got your starter, You can see people aren’t even half way through their food and you try to take it away ?! I sit down and not even open the menu and I’m being asked what i want. I say can we have a few minutes to decide or no we are still eating etc and literally a few seconds later asked again.

We asked for more ice a few times and the waiter brought over a massive bucket of ice (which was great because we wanted the glasses full of ice, not just 2 cubes in each) but then he stood there with the bucket plopping one ice a cube in the glass at a time as slow as possible instead of just leaving it to us to do, waiting for us to say stop as if he was paying for the ice out of his wages or something.

The waiters hang over you, staring, constantly touching and taking things from the table and rushing you along. This is what happens every single time I am here. I look passed it because I love food but I am running out of people to bring with me which is why I leave this review. I can see many others have the same thoughts on this service. It’s very busy in the evenings but not busy enough because the pushy service is still the same, the only difference is you can’t hear a word they are saying because it’s so ridiculously loud in the evening lol.

Anyway we get that the table is only for 2 hours but I don’t know anywhere else that treats you like this it really isn’t a good night at all when service is like that, we wouldn’t be there longer for 2 hours with normal service so I don’t understand why this is happening aside from getting double the amount of customers by getting everyone out within 1 hour instead of 2.!

Oh! There was also an occasion when I asked for mash instead of chips with my steak and the waiter got very funny with me, I said it wasn’t a problem but he was already not happy about my request and clearly felt like he should honour my mash meal but not without first getting very close to my face and shouting at me that this would be the one and only time i will be able to swap my chips for mash lololol it was...

Following many previous visit, and happy ones at that, on our last two visits it became apparent that the prices remained but the portions reduced, more noticeable on the mini burger starter, as there is one less than before, lamb and chicken pieces on mains were one piece less and smaller, not to mention, the no swap outs on the rice for fries, so when you work it out, the rice you pay for in the meal... but you don't get, is £5 then the add on fries £5, that means the fries have actually cost £10!! (4 people dinning, that don’t eat rice, that’s £40) To top that the owner / manager has previously reserved disabled parking space due to how busy it can get, with non-badge holders parking in disabled (or staff) and the last time I drove, was told he will happily do this any time we book in the future... not this time, as we attend regularly, and I don’t always drive so it’s not an issue, but as I was driving tonight as its the Wife’s birthday, I called in advance, to sort out parking... no help what so ever... so, cancelled booking, which arrogantly, didn’t seem to bother him, so now have booked elsewhere, who are a lot more accommodating, where the staff are more friendly. Never to return again now... keep up the good work, and you will end up like your predecessors, 210BC.... “history”. However, if your management changes, do make it public, and I will consider returning, until then, I will take my business elsewhere. disgusting service and behaviour, when I stood my ground on the phone, although he would not back track, he did try to pretty it up with excuses. either way, it’s never been an issue before, So thanks, but no thanks. With friends and the power of social media, I do hope you regret your decision today. Bear in mind our average bill when attending 4-6 people (more on special occasions) is normally from £280 - £360 per visit. On birthdays, has hit over £600… not a customer you want to lose I would have said. We was there only last Tuesday, and would have been again tonight, oh well, we have a nice Chinese, at a friend’s restaurant to look...

I walked past this restaraunt quite a few times and the smell of BBQ food coming from the chimney was lush! So I had to try it. Yes Ok the price is worth the food. Dont be shocked by looking at the price of menu, dont let it put you off. £24 for the Shish Chicken. Comes with rice and salad. But first I was given this BEAUTIFUL Chargrilled flatbread with herbs and paprika. With sauces. When it arrived at my table. I was seriously shocked by that beautiful chargrilled flavour, absolutely delicious if I could just have the flat bread every time🤤🤤🤤🤤. Then my sweet potato fries and shish chicken came and OMG the flavour was AMAZING. Yes it was worth the money. Every penny. This restaraunt is profesional, excellent service, beautifully designed even the toliets are like Wow very very clean!! Like disco vibes! Manhatten vibes in toliets corridors are like Wow! This restaruant is incredible, the food quality is consitant. Hense they are very busy espically during their meal deal from 12-4pm Mon to Friday with two course for £15 which I will be trying for sure. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Oustanding restaruant!! Well done Kara!! Food is out of this world. I will admend this with photos of when I go for the £15 afternoon two course meal deal next week. The only thing I would have to complain about is the When I was in there the music was a tiny little bit too loud. But then again it blocked out other peoples conversations, but then again if I was having a conversation with someone I would been having to leaning over to listen to what they were saying. But thats just my opinion and not picking. Anyway outstanding restaruant!! Highly recommend this! Want a first date go here. Want a birthday meal go here!
