If i could give 0 stars.. i would!
Arrived at 19.45 for food.
The carpark so tight we struggled to park the car.
We stood at the "please wait here to be seated" sign for 15 mins before we took it upon ourselves to find our own seats.
So its 20.00 We sat down beside a group of children who were running around the pub, shaking the toy machines. The children found a steak knife ontop of one of the toy machines and their mother took it away.
Its now 20.02 and The children have lost £2 in the machines as it got stuck. My partner kindly added another pound hoping to push it though but nothing happened. The children told the bar staff and they said they would come and retrieve the £3.
My partner went to the bar to get us drinks Its now 20.10 and he's been stood there 10 mins already. He rang me from the bar and asked if I knew what good I wanted otherwise he'd be stood there ages again.
At 20.16 finally we had ordered food and drinks... £50 for 2 meals and 2 cokes!
By 21:00hrs our food still hadn't arrived. I started to put on my coat and my partner went to ask for a refund. Within seconds our food then arrived. The chips were cold. The ribs were spicy(not stated on the menu) The steak was chewy.
It's now 21.13 we have finished what was edible on our disappointing meal and hoping to get pudding to make up for the poor mains. But the kitchen is now closed!
About to leave. But I thought I'd just add its 21.15 and the children have gone home with no toys and the staff still haven't come to retrieve the lost £3 from the machine.
Get me the heck out of here. Never...
Read morethis place really has had its day. its dead. have been coming here for over 25 years and it used to be absolutely crazy busy here, bustling, full of life, great staff and decent food, not to mention charlie chalks! nowadays its a very dilapidated place that has lost of a lot its charm. came here friday with my mum and daughter, the waitress(i think shes blind in one eye, foreign) gave probably the worst service ever since ive been visiting here. the food menu here is really slimmed down, they used to offer some great dishes like half roast chicken, ribs and so forth. i had a nacho starter which tbf was alright, then the chicken tikka curry which for £14 id had expected alot better. typical microwaved stuff that. mum had a rump and daughter had the big kids 2 course which tbh it couldve easily caterer for two ! sloppy pizza & 4 chunks of corn/cob which she didnt eat all of. the play area has seen better days, i really dont understand why charlie chalks was thrown out and a silly little area that has no character. back in the day there used to be a counter that sold many childhood goodies, youd also pay £1 to play in the play area too which was a steal. i used to sneak in here at night whilst my parents were getting razzled 🫣🙂 growing up and legsl to drink, i had many a nights in here with mates, off our faces, karaoke etc, seeing the regulars. it really used to be a decent night out. anyway going off on a tangent here, whenever we come here nowadays we always say how dead it has become, no life, mediocre food,...
Read moreIncredibly rude manager. Told us we couldn't have a table as they were all booked, we then went online and was able to book a table. We asked for a table near the play area and was told there was none even though we walked past several on our way through. Very very very rude manager. Didn't even sit down, left immediately. And we weren't the only ones as my partner spoke to another man who said the same thing!
EDIT (as I can't work out how to reply!)
We DID book online after being told you had "no tables available" and I booked a time slot for 2 minutes after we arrived. So clearly you did have tables! And as I mentioned in my original post, there were plenty of EMPTY tables at the play area, and customers on their desserts or paying as we walked past. We could've been asked to wait until one of those tables were clear but that wasn't what happened. And sadly, despite all the other issues, your "manager" was incredibly rude, blunt, huffy and very dismissive. He wasn't helpful for even a second of our visit, not even with our initial request of sitting in the bar for drinks to wait for a table. We ended up going to another Brewers Fayre in West Malling and they EXCEEDED your customer service by miles. They also mentioned that you don't have a policy of holding tables or specific tables for guests, it's not what you are supposed to do! So I won't be visiting again. My six year old daughter was disappointed that your service was so poor and even mentioned giving you one...
