We booked a table of 7 in the afternoon in person. I thought it quite weird the waiter didn’t ask for my name or phone number so I offered this information. He only took my name, stating,” that’s all I need”. I had told him when asking after such a large table that some of my party were quite small people(kids), he claims not to have heard me. When we arrived at 19:30 he was waiting outside as if he was expecting us. “I’m really sorry but we can’t accommodate you as our licensing law doesn’t allow us to take kids”. I’m a licensee. Quite a good and respected one at that. This, in my opinion, is highly unlikely, and quite unfair if it is true, as there is no specific law in the UK, denying accompanied young people access to pubs and restaurants. If you don’t want kids in just say it. Or create cover charges or minimum spends for peak periods. And also get your procedures sorted out. Read moreMy wife and I visited The New Quay on the 9th of September for drinks and dinner, and we were delighted with the experience. From the start, we received a very warm welcome from both the bar staff and the manager, which really set the tone for the evening. The choice of beers and drinks was excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that two drinks came to under £10 — fantastic value compared to other pubs in Brixham.
For dinner, we enjoyed some classic pub favourites: lasagne and fish and chips. Both dishes were excellent, well-prepared, and again offered great value for money. The atmosphere in the pub was lively yet welcoming, and we had the pleasure of chatting with both locals and visitors, which made the evening even more enjoyable.
Overall, The New Quay is a friendly, great-value pub with good food, excellent drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere. We will definitely...
Read moreWe often pop in for a few drinks when in the harbour and there's always a lovely atmosphere in the New Quay. We saw they were hosting a Burns Night meal so booked in. We have a picky 10yo who only eats nuggets (!) however Sophie catered for him so he could join us. Burns Night food was beautiful we had Cullen Skink and Pheasant strips to start, haggis neeps and tatties, venison and game keepers pie for main and raspberry cranachan and mince pie and pear tart. All beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Special shout out to Sam who never stopped attending to all the diners, she was like a little rocket whizzing about. We didn't have to wait for our meals or drinks. Thoroughly lovely evening. Thanks Sophie, Sam and all the New Quay team. photos added...
