A lovely evening spent in Albero with my Wife.
Book (easily) online to reserve a table and settle down for relaxed dining either out on their covered decking or inside their cosy establishment. The staff are really friendly, and on it when it comes to service.
The menu has great starters, small plates and main dishes with something for everyone - seafood, meat, veggie and pizzas. There was also an extensive specials board which we went for. Additionally, you can choose plenty of sides and a range of butters for your fish.
There is an extensive wine list and a good bar. We went for a lovely Greek white that was very nice.
For starters we had the creamiest oysters and some perfectly baked scallops - yum!
For mains we went for a deliciously fresh lemon sole with harissa and lime butter and a fantastic, hefty, hake fillet sat on mussels with a chorizo and samphire cream sauce, and a side bowl of chips.
It was all fantastically cooked, really tasty with well balanced flavours, where every element shone through but didn’t over take the beautiful fish. The bowl of chips was large enough to share and were spot on. The harissa and lime butter on the sole was particularly good.
The warm and relaxed atmosphere was great inside the restaurant with nice music playing at just the right level. The staff were great to chat to so we didn’t want to go…which meant dessert! A biscoff cheesecake was perfect to end on.
Very reasonable pricing and no different from anywhere along Brixham Marina but the food was a notch above and the staff were really good. Definitely the best in Brixham - book a table and...

(Hoping it was just a leaky toilet but the mop in the corner definitely came in handy as there was a lot of water on the floor). Only one toilet right next to the pass so a couple of near misses with people bumping into things.
The restaurant was extremely busy with only 2 staff on tables (couldn't have had any more as they'd have been bumping into each other), so at times felt they were rushed and stressed but all the same friendly.
The food was fantastic and portions were bigger than expected. Even though we were sat indoors due to the layout you could still see the boats in the harbour so had a nice feel, if a little cramped.
As we'd finished our mains we were asked if we wanted desserts which we did but then sat waiting whilst we watched people leaving, staff eating and pouring themselves drinks and generally closing up, so felt forgotten about, a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed, wondering what to do. (It was only about 9.45).
I decided to pay the bill and the waitress was most apologetic that we weren't given desserts, so insisted we have them for free but we had no idea what had gone in the box. When we got back to our holiday home we found the best cheesecake we've ever tasted - just a shame that the bill payer wasn't given a slice!
Fantastic food but maybe got them...

has been filled as there is finally a restaurant in the Bay where you can, and will, get everything to make the perfect evening. It was our daughters birthday surprise and the staff made it feel like it was everyone in our parties birthday. I don't normally 'gush' over eating out but I can still feel that warm, welcoming atmospheric glow we received, even 4 days later. The location is on the side of the harbour with beautiful views across it, made even more dramatic with the night lights on. The food. Well, there's probably not enough space here so I'll try and do it justice. It was superb. We all had different home made fresh pizza with various side dishes, which, while writing this, has me reaching for the calendar to book again. Our hosts couldn't have been more attentive and not in your face like some places.
I did have to do a double take though when I paid the bill. Surely they'd missed a couple of meals off but no, it was correct. I'm not saying how much it was but I will say it was worth double what I paid and even that would have been reasonable.
In a nutshell you have to go. If you don't, then you are missing out.
Our thanks to everyone at Albero for making our evening in to something very special.
We WILL be...
