I'm a bit torn with this review, because the restaurant is lovely and the menu is great but the wait for the food was really bad. We actually really enjoyed our food, but we waited well over 45 minutes after ordering for it to arrive. I'm not sure of the exact timings, but I know we arrived at about 2.30pm, and still hadn't eaten 45 mins after that. We watched several tables, that arrived after us, receive their food. We had only ordered a burger and halloumi fajitas, with no special requests or changes. After 30-40 mins waiting we managed to attract the attention of our waiter, which was a bit tricky in itself. But he was a friendly young guy and he went to check what had happened. He came back and said "they're just doing it now"and said something about a live ticket which we didn't fully catch, but it was still another good few minutes on from that before we got our food. We didn't really get a proper apology or explanation, though it was clear that our order had been forgotten somewhere between the server and the kitchen. I understand mistakes happen, it was very busy, but it's still not nice to be on the end of them. Especially, when you're having a nice day out with your mum who you haven't seen for 2 months. The people were friendly, the food was really tasty, but the wait kind of ruined the whole lunch. My advice to others would be to be a bit more assertive than we were about chasing your order up if you've been waiting a while! P.S The Krispy Creme burger is AMAZING though.

The Quills for me is a table service burger restaurant that is quite funky but most pleasing. Good value food, well presented, I had the Quills Cheeseburger with fries at £10.99. The table service was very good, staff were polite and attentive. I did not have to wait long for my food at all. A nice piping hot pot if tea soothes me while I waited. The chips were chunky, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The burger was a home made beef patty with mature cheddar, ripe thickly sliced fresh tomato and lettuce with just enough gherking for a tang but not overwhelming. Most importantly was heinz ketchup, hellmans mayo and HP sauce, not that awful chefs larder cheap sauces!! Here are the crunchy bits.........wifi was poor and I like Netflix when eating alone. Plus point, a couple of tables had waited a little time for their food and as soon as the waitress was aware of this she chased it with gusto. Well done waitress, would I use this restaurant again........... definitely!!!!

My friend and I visited this restaurant yesterday evening after hiking around the area. We started with the carrot and coriander soup which was absolutely delicious. Very fresh and home-made served along with a white mini-loaf of bread. The burgers were excellent - I had a halloumi burger – lovely fresh ingredients served in a quality tasty seeded bun. A Sticky Toffee pudding with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream rounded off the meal very nicely indeed! In summary; we were extremely impressed with the high quality food. The young chap who served us is a credit to the industry. [The lady who sat us down...less so...I think she was having an off-day; we felt she was very cold and non-engaging.] Overall, thank you for making our visit to Rochester a great experience. Very much look forward to returning when next in the area.

UPDATE*

would like to reiterate from the mangers very bad response to a last review from our Sunday breakfast. Please don’t be so rude and obnoxious with your comment saying if you put your egg in the sandwich it will be dripping. When the review clearly says the egg was on the side of the plate as we pointed out on the day. I know what egg looks like and what dripping butter looks like. So your comment really isn’t justified. And you don’t say to a paying customer where is she? Manners don’t cost anything. You say where is your friend. And don’t just assume we haven’t paid before leaving. You all really need to brush up on your customer service instead of getting your point across without listening to the customer. There was 3 of us and neither was happy with your food so this isn’t on one person’s review. You must be able to respond to negative reviews in a respectable way, without trying to make out the customer is a liar in what they are telling you. No need for another sarcastic reply. Thank you

Came here Sunday for a breakfast and to be honest it wasn’t great. A bacon sandwich with egg on the side was absolutely dripping with butter and I mean the bread was soaked and all coming out of the bread. To which one guy said well it’s your egg when 3 times we said no it’s here on the side. 2 breakfast was cold. Very dry no taste. £10.50 for such a small breakfast is ridiculous. 2 of us waited outside whilst the other went to the toilet to which our waiter said where is she has she paid the bill. I mean who speaks this way. Who is she. Have some manners and don’t be so rude. Firstly is obvious the bill money is on the table. And secondly your don’t say to a lady....
