Decent Shepherd Neame pub. The beer selection is good—we had a Master Brew and a Stout. Since it’s a Shepherd Neame pub, it has all their beer on ta. I haven’t tried the food yet, but I’ll update the review if I do. We visited around 4 PM, during a mix of work Christmas parties and post-lunch drinks, so it felt like an in-between time so that might have affected the atmosphere which was a bit dry. The decor is fairly standard, and the bar service was fine. We managed to find a high-top table, but despite the pub being quite big, space felt limited—they could probably arrange it better. It’s in an interesting spot on a busy corner, which makes it very convenient to get in and out. Overall, it’s a pleasant pub with a solid Shepherd Neame beer selection, worth a visit if you're in the area and by appearances it certainly looks like one of the best in the area.

Popped in here for a “quick” lunch on our travels. We managed to find a park up the road a bit for an hour. Unfortunately the parking expired before our lunches arrived. So I quickly dashed out to move the car, which meant I was away from the table for twenty minutes, during which time the meals arrived. (Of course!) A little tardy, yes. But I have to admit the meal was worth waiting for. I could tell you I just had a burger, but that would be understating it. It was a BURGER! (In fact I’m salivating just thinking about it!) Nice ambience inside, and a gorgeous looking building from the outside. Friendly, accommodating wait-staff.

We normally stop at the Weatherspoons....but were right up the other end of the high street so gave this a go. Sooooo glad we did! Had bangers n mash. Free range sausages with leek , mustard mash, red cabbage etc... absolutely delish!!!!...busy pub , most had reserved a table. The only reason it's not 5 🌟...is the dessert....pecan topped gypsy tart...erm...1 pecan!...and a slice so small I think there was one slice and they cut it in half for me and my mother...not cheap so disappointed. The bangers and mash was big portions! Obviously more expensive than Weatherspoons...but well worth it. I'll definitely go back 😊

Worst Sunday Roast: my family and I were in Rochester whiling away a Sunday afternoon as parent do with young children, and decided to try our luck for a Sunday Roast at the Royal Crown. Initial signs were good, reasonable reviews, nice atmosphere and generally attentive staff. We had high hopes.

We ordered 2 adults roasts (beef/chicken) and a child’s roast (chicken) along with a child’s burger and chips. I will bullet point my feedback on the roasts,

beef had the same texture as the bottom on my 5 year old flip-flops the half chicken had either been deepfried or placed on the surface of the sun for a fortnight before serving roast potatoes must have been made an eternity ago and then deep fried to order, the amount of oil in them was disgusting, it was that old chip fat taste that took me back to my mums cooking in the 90’s when were broke and everything was deep fried for 30mins before consumption the Yorkshire puddles snapped, not broke, ‘snapped’! With every bite requiring a glass of water veg were okay as i imagine they ‘may’ have been prepared that day

When veg is the best thing on a roast theres something very wrong. I would not eat here again, it was £70 down the drain as we left almost all the food (with the exception of the burger and chips which my son seemed to get on with okay).

I cannot recommend this place to anyone wanting to eat, its not possible for this to be a ‘bad day at the office’ it tasted like the chefs stopped caring long ago.

I would go back in for a drink but as far as food goes it would be a packet of...

Today I was really looking forward to a nice lunch with myself and 3 other people. It turned out to be a dismal experience all round. We were told there was a table for 4 available. We ordered a round of drinks at the bar. We then ordered our food at the bar. Two of the meals arrived, we expected the rest of the order to arrive imminently. Wrong!!! we waited and waited and waited. Finally after 45 mins we asked one of the 2 girls who were waiting where the rest of the food was. She said she would chase it up for us, she came back to say it was just being plated up..... After another 15 mins the remaining 2 meals arrived. She was hoping to just place the meals and go...I had to call her back to complain at the delay...she said it was delayed because the previous day there had been a power cut. Errr and how does that impact on a meal the day after!!! No real apology, couldn't take the initiative to at least offer a round of complimentary drinks. The food was just about edible not in anyway worth an hours wait. Finally got ready to leave, a man appeared, we asked if he was the manager. He confirmed he was. We told him about the delay and the excuse, he apologised but again did not really seem that bothered. I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone, in fact I will make sure if anyone is thinking of finding somewhere to eat in Rochester they keep walking in the opposite direction to this place. Thankfully its at the top of the street so you will have every opportunity to find...

Wow! Wow! Wow! If i could give 6 stars i would.

What a venue and what a team! On Friday we visited with family, Ellie was serving us, her energy and attentive service made for a wonderful dining and drinking experience. Food was delicious, and prices are so reasonable. Burgers are not your run of the mill shop bought quarterpounders, they are thick, juicy and cooked to perfection. We had a member of our group who was gluten free. The food was sent in the food lift on its own to make sure of no cross contamination. How good is that?!

On Saturday we hired the upstairs for a party, the whole experience from viewing, booking, agreeing the menu, getting there and setting up, settling up. Everything was done with such an ease that it took away all worries. The food was fantastic, with everyone at the party saying how good it was. We had our own bar with personal bar staff. The value was brilliant. If you are thinking about hiring a venue, visit Rachel and Tom and have a word.

Well done to Rachel, Tom, Jeff, Ellie and...
