Went to the ship on the 16th of September 2023 with a friend And I was very disappointed The first barman ignored us,had to be served by another one Our table was on alcove between two rooms by the door which was opening every 2 minutes so you got a blast of cold air The music was dreadful I do like Jamaica music but not to that degree we had no paper napkins at all I had to Nick one form a table that hadn't been cleared yet. And the food was substandard the chips were obviously oven chips because we must have got the smallest portion going and thin as anything the dressing was likewise half a tomato so I don't know where the other half went and the sirloin steak was very flat had no taste not even with the garlic I had a dessert of chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and I've got to say I was very disappointed yet again small portion very and not even a good size portion of ice cream must have been the smallest scoop And as for the drinks very overpriced two lagers for £10 something we even downloaded the app didn't get the free drink The staff didn't look very happy and not very approachable Would I go back to the ship my answer would be no as someone who's lived in Saltburn for 57 years waz born in Saltburn and has been going there to the ship inn in one form or another for 37 years I am very disappointed and I would not recommend As I keep saying I am very disappointed in fact the food they're going to in that form I will not be going back...
Read moreVisited this last Sunday on a bank holiday weekend, and Saltburn was packed! Took us ages to park but that's beside the point of reviewing the Ship. But it might give some sense to my review. First off let's say what was good about the place. The food was lovely. My wife and I both had scampi, my daughter had the lasagne, and my son had sausages and mash. Good sized portions, tasty, the chips were scrumptious! Unfortunately, all that was let down by poor service. OK, I know it was Bank Holiday, but still. We were seated quickly enough and the waitress said she'd bring us some menus, which she did, but not for ten minutes maybe? We ordered and only then were told the wait for food was about 45 minutes, maybe an hour. Would have been nice to be told that straight away! Anyway, we decide to stay, reasoning everywhere would be the same. By 45 minutes later, we had not received any food, but noticed tables near us, who had ordered after us, were getting their food. Eventually the waitress told us that the tills had gone down and all the orders were mixed up, but ours was on the way. I think we'd have waited 50-60 minutes for food which was disappointing but perhaps understandable given how busy it was, but I am glad we did stay as the food was worth the wait. We met some friends after our meal and sat out watching the sunset, so things turned out right in the end. Hopefully we will visit again and get a better...
Read moreWe have never been to Saltburn By The Sea Before, Only recommend by a friend of mine, ok let's give this place an Honest Review as I always try and do.
We went to the ship for our dinner with 2 Grandkids, me and the wife plus mother in-law, the pub is very nice and clean, staff very helpful and asking if all is ok with the food, I love doing reviews like this, so the Food was absolutely beautiful, hot well made and plenty of it, very reasonably priced to, the kids menu is great, £4.99 for Main, 2 sides dessert and a drink, can't complain at that.
Lots of people choosing to eat here so get in early we went in at 12:10pm Dinner time plenty of room but filled quickly. Even though it gets a lot of people in they soon finish and make tables available, we had grandkids so they take Thier time as you might know, lovely Pub, Lovely Staff, Lovely Food, 10/10 for everything, will definitely be returning again to the Ship pub.
Saltburn is a lovely place to go, didn't even know it was thier, if you want to go and see it for yourself and have a lovely lunch in the Ship, Google Saltburn By The Sea, park in the CatNab Car park £6.50 all day, pay with card or pay with the Ringo app.
