Victoria Pub — Restaurant in England

Avoid ! This is not a hotel.||Oct 2024 • Friends||Beware! If you’re planning to stay here , remember it’s not a hotel but rooms over a pub. That’s why it seems good value. After a long drive I was looking forward to a nice pint of Cameron’s. The only ale available! Disappointment no. 1! Disappointment no2: Large room on top floor with 6 internal flights of stairs. We were advised that the pub shut at 9.00pm! We weren’t given a key to the front door but told to access our rooms via a deteriorating external metal fire escape - the door to which was always open for any one to enter the hotel. With no safe in the room, be wary about leaving valuables in your room. First night lack of heating meant freezing conditions - granted the dangerously hot water in the bathroom was welcome. Problems with the gas boiler apparently. Temporary electric fires were provided for night 2. Radiators back to full power for night3. Disappointment no.3: no breakfast - or any food for that matter. We were advised to use nearby cafes. Roast dinners were advertised for Sundays but we had long gone...

It was poor! Free parking advertised but actually you have to find your own free parking nearby it was busy and a total nightmare to find a space! The rooms are above the pub and you walk into the pub to get your keys for the room! The pub wasn’t the cleanest or the best of clientele… the room was over priced smelt of stale beer and food! The toilet smelt of rotten eggs every time you flushed it and made a loud gurgling noise ( you could here everyone else having the same problem. |No WiFi given! And the way in and out of your room is through a fire escape at the top of the building that goes to the back of the building full of rubbish, grease and very slippy! |I wouldn’t have stopped there for free! It’s not for families nor couples! |Also checking isn’t while 4pm you have to be out by 10am and no breakfast and I paid over £100 to stop...
