We came across Rapp's Cafe by accident and we very glad we did. Rapp’s is a café and bar, situated very close to the railway station. When we visited early June 2021 it had some indoor seating but most of the seating was outdoor on the street with screening around 3 sides. Not sure whether this will continue when lockdown is fully lifted.
My wife has a dairy intolerance (and was glad of the soya latte) and my daughter a nut allergy. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. We were there for the lunch menu (11.30-3.00)
I had the ROAST VEG AND HALLOUMI WRAP £9.95 With lettuce and spiced hummus, served with fries. (this like quite a few other dishes on the lunch menu had a vegan option available). It was well presented, very tasty and a satisfying portion. My wife and daughter were equally pleased with their dishes, BEETROOT BURGER (Vegan) £9.95 Served in a Sourdough Bun, Topped with BBQ pulled jackfruit, pickled red cabbage, crispy onions and vegan mayonnaise and for my daughter, SMOKED SALMON LINGUINIE £8.95 Creamy smoked salmon, served with a garlic croute.
They seem to do a fair range of wines, ciders and cocktails.
Indoors looked smart, modern but comfortable although as we ate in the outdoor eating area we only saw the inside when we went through to use the bathrooms, which were clean and spacious.
Next time we are in Saltburn we will definitely visit Rapp’s again, possibly checking out the...
Read moreWe have been frequenting Rapps for many years and the food and service have been faultless. The new dining outside experience especially in the fantastic weather over the weekend is bringing people out. HOWEVER. This Saturday was NOT a good experience. Waited a long time to get served and when we eventually got the menu all the usual sandwiches were missing and it was a drastically reduced choice. But things change so we opted for a full breakfast that my wife and I would share. I like my tea and coffee with the meal but this could not be accommodated as we were told - wait for it. It was done by a different "Department". Wow, they now have department at Rapps. So sure enough he coffee and tea arrived but the food came some 20minutes later. They did accommodate us by sharing out my breakfast but also charged me an extra £3.00. (Normal large breakfast is £8.95. Cost on the bill - £12.00. All new young staff who are just not interested. Come on Rapps. We are back trading again. Where did your standards disappear to. We wont be coming back and we...
Read moreHad breakfast and eveening meal at Rapps, during out stay in Saltburn. Full English is fantastic, excellent tasting sausages, thick cut bacon, some of the tastiest black pudding ever, mushrooms that taste of mushrooms, beans that haven't been messed with, all with a toasted muffin. Excellent pancakes and syrup for the little ones. The baked hake is simply delicious and one of the best meals I've eaten out in a long long time the thermodore sauce is amazing and the smashed potatos, green beans and tenderstem briccoli cooked just right. Frickin Chicken burger was delicious, as was the stick beef pappardelle. Little one loved the pepperoni pizza. Lemon meringue sundae feeds two if you've eaten all your main. Whipped cream, ice cream and a smashed meringue, with a fantastic lemon sauce that hits hard when you reach the bottom of the bowl. Draught bitter excellent as is the IPA if you like it hoppy. Service staff are cheerful, helpfull and knowledgeable especially when you have 3...
