My partner, sister and I were staying in Saltburn for a few days. My partner loves a curry, so we had a Google, saw the reviews for this place, and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed!
They opened at 5:30 and we wandered up around 6:00. We were initially almost put off by the 3 star hygiene review on the front door, but we were hungry and I was content with the reviews on Google.
We were the first people in, and awkwardly greeted and seated. After some time, we finally decided on our food, and, wow.
My partner and I got a starter to share, which was 2 samosas, 2 pieces of chicken tikka, and 2 onion bhajis. They were hot, and flavourful. Very good. We did give one bhaji to my sister though so we didn't get too full.
Our mains arrived and we were so impressed. We all got a curry main, and shared 2 rices and 2 naans between us which was enough! All the curries were hot and fresh. The naans were nice and thin and crispy on the bottom, and the rice was hot and fluffy. The only let down with the food was the fact that the pilau rice was just dyed white rice, not the proper yellow herb and spice infused rice.
The portions were good sizes, and the bowls were deep. There was enough rice and naan for the three of us despite us getting 2 of each to share, and we cleared all plates and bowls with no complaints.
We paid the bill and were given an After Eight mint each, but no hot towel unfortunately to wipe our hands/mouths with. The prices I think were a touch pricey, but it is 100% worth it for the quality!! I'd happily go back again next time we visit! And no issues with our tummies the next day! Cant wait to go back and try...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic takeaway food! We moved to Teesside a few months and have been searching for good quality, authentic Indian food since then - without much success. We love Indian food and have eaten some fantastic examples from all over the UK. Living in Newcastle, we were spoilt for choice of fabulous Indian Restaurants, but our searches since moving here have been disappointing - until yesterday, when we drove to Saltburn specifically to try Jadoor Restaurant and takeaway, and what a find! We arrived before it was really open but the staff, and particularly Syed, were so helpful and polite that nothing was a problem. We ordered a range of food in order to try a variety, tikka chicken, shish kebab, chicken dupiaza, chicken Korma and chicken tikka jalfrezi, along with vegatable pilau rices and a keema naan, poppadoms and an assorted pickle tray. Everything was absolutely fantastic! The spices were so fresh, but not overwhelming, and every dish was presented beautifully, and the flavours genuinely authentic and distinct. The chicken, so tender and so tasty, with generous portions in each meal. We absolutely loved all of the food and cannot recommend it highly enough. This will definitely be our takeaway of choice, even with the extra distance we have to travel - but well worth it. Thank you Syed, and we hope to try the...
Read moreGranted we got there late in the day and perhaps they wanted to close, but this was among the worst Indian food we’ve had. Tasteless poppadom was accompanied by a sauce tray it turns out they charged extra for. (First time for everything.) Veggie samosas were deep fried in oil that tasted like it was used for fish and chips. You could taste the sugar grains in the curry and coriander main dish. Side of sag was passable. The beer was wet.
I realize it’s possible some like their Indian food this way so have at it if that’s your cup of tea. I prefer more spiciness and fresh flavors. (Also we had to ask the staff to stop throwing cutlery on the bar as they were rolling it for the next day there in the dining room with no consideration for the ambiance.) Overall a...
