As I am reading the reviews on this site, I realize that a lot of reviews pertain to the pub. The reviews of the room are rather negative. We did not have a good experience. We were in room 5, which is due for a little refurbishment. It was slightly smelly but the odor quickly became unnoticeable. The main issue was that we wanted to shower before dinner, but the temperature handle in the shower fell off and the water temperature was too hot. We tried to put the handle back on but the spindle on which the handle should've rested was worn, and the handle was spinning on the spindle - there was no grip. I went downstairs to the pub to get help. The barmaid called the manager who was unreachable. I asked for pliers or something that I could use to adjust the water temperature, but without success. So I went back up to the room, fiddled with the handle in such a way that the handle wasn't completely inserted and the indentations in the handle could actually grip the spindle so we could adjust the water temperature. About an hour later, the manager barged in to our room, looked at what I had done and said that the problem had been fixed. He left.||He didn't thank me, apologize or offer any kind of compensation for the inconvenience.||The problem is that it was not fixed, and the next guests in room 5 will experience the same issue.||I would've given a "Terrible" rating to the Inn if it wasn't for the included breakfast. The breakfast was good: a good choice on the menu, a lot of flexibility to add or substitute ingredients, and...

I don't normally write reviews in general but had to share my experience with others as I felt quite robbed by this ordeal and felt the need to warn others planning to book a stay here. Extremely poor customer service - I had a booking planned for this hotel and cancelled 7 days in advance of check-in after the announcement of new COVID restrictions placing the area where I live as well as the area where the hotel is located in tier 4 and 3 (respectively), which specify no overnight stays permitted for nonessential purposes and that hotels "must close," during my reservation dates. Despite this, I was charged the FULL amount of the stay despite having cancelled 7 days ahead (which was the amount of time I had to cancel free of charge as per my cancellation policy, with no specific time of day by which the booking had to be cancelled) and with these new government issued health measures making an overnight stay in this hotel during my booked dates punishable by law. The hotel was very difficult to get a hold of, either not answering the phone or failing to return a message within 24 hours, and I was told different information each day that I called based on who I spoke with. Unfortunately the hotel refused to refund my money, or even provide a credit for future stay or forgive one night of the stay - I will NEVER book a stay at this property again, or any of their affiliate properties. It is a shame because the hotel actually seemed like a great place to stay, however the staff running the...

I have always rated The Union Inn and promoted the roast dinner, breakfast and general ambience but today I was extremely disappointed.

Myself and my visiting family went for lunch, appreciate Cowes week but the area where we sat was the access to the toilet and a storage area for barrels and other paraphernalia completely inaccessible or to allow a pleasant dining experience.

We were informed a wait of 20-30 minutes, we waited for over an hour for extremely poor overpriced food delivered, inedible, over cooked, badly presented and the starter served to one of us resulted in diarrhea within 30 minutes of consumption. A disturbing and offensive plaque that glorifies a slave trader During my visit to Cowes, I came across a blue plaque commemorating a man named “Lord Parker”—described as a notorious slave trader, smuggler, and man about town. Presented in a style that mimics official heritage plaques, this sign effectively glorifies someone responsible for immense violence and suffering. There is no historical context, no critique—just a casual mention of slavery as if it’s a quirky part of local history. This is deeply offensive, especially for Black visitors and others who understand the gravity of Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade. History should be remembered—but not romanticised or reduced to pub folklore. This kind of display is harmful and retraumatising. I urge anyone visiting to be aware of it—and for local authorities to take accountability. Heritage should never come at the expense of human dignity. This isn’t heritage—it’s violence!

The Union Inn in Cowes stands out as a beacon of hospitality, offering a unique blend of history and modern comfort. As the oldest pub in Cowes, it boasts boutique rooms that are just a stone's throw away from the vibrant marina, making it an ideal stay for both sailors and travelers alike. The Inn's commitment to maintaining a cozy, home-like atmosphere is evident in its well-furnished rooms and the warm, welcoming service provided by the staff. With a continental breakfast to start your day and a restaurant serving hearty, home-cooked meals, your stay is guaranteed to be as delightful as it is memorable. Whether you're there to enjoy the local yachting scene or to simply unwind, The Union Inn promises an experience that will leave you wanting to return time and time again.

Okay stay, would probably of not encountered the amount of problems I did if it wasn't for Covid restrictions. Main issues:- Shower tray water pump temperamental wouldn't pump away water so shower tray would puddle. No cup/mug for the use of tea or coffee. Some bulbs not working. Heating not on, suppose if the whole pub was working then heating would have been on, although small heater in the corner doesn't warm the room sufficiently enough. Dirty cutlery for continental breakfast. WiFi didn't work, once connected it tried to take me to a login page which would never load. Bed was comfy and slept well even on 2 single beds pushed together. Again this is probably quite a harsh review, in normal times I wouldn't expect many of these problems to occur.
