Absolutely dreadful service, the woman is a nightmare! I have no idea how this place is still in business, it certainly can't be from repeat custom! There are signs in front of the tray bake cakes saying "do not touch", fair enough, but the extra sign saying "stand WELL back" is a tad overkill. Why, are they made of dangerous toxins? The mind boggles. There was a stand containing numerous different cookies, on the stand there was a pile of paper bags and a pair of tongs, no aggressive signs.. Assuming (how stupid of me...) that the tongs and bags were there so I could pick up a cookie and put it in a bag was a grave error in judgement.. The woman started screaming hysterically at me running from the back of the shop hollering " you!! Don't touch the tongs, it's not self service!! Put them down!". After a full dressing down she asked aggressively "have you actually made your mind up yet!" at which point I was very close to telling her where she could shove the cookies! Sadly there were kids to buy for, but then came the next drama, I wasn't allowed to give her my card to pay, or put it in the card machine. For some insane reason she made me go outside the shop into the street and she held the card reader up to the window from inside and shouted at me to blip my card on the other side of the window. Stood in the middle of the street. I actually thought this must be some kind of prank, but reading these reviews she has form! Then some other poor victims entered the shop and it wasn't long before they were hollered at too! It's absolutely nuts! And the cookies were bland and a bit stale. Enter here...
Read moreI really wanted to buy some scones and cakes but lost my appetite after reading the rather rude signage throughout the shop and seeing how customers before me were treated. The baked goods are everywhere inside the shop uncovered and on every surface and there are hand written signs telling customers to not touch or help themselves and a lady screaming the same thing as we walked in! I did wonder why they couldn't cover the baked items with plastic wrap or something to keep dirt, flies, and germs off of them and to deter the idea that you are able to help yourself. My cousin was truly so excited to show me all of the lovely looking baked goods and as she is pointing things out and trying to decide what her and her family wanted, the screaming lady was really rude and abrupt asking over and over if she has made her mind up. There wasn't anyone else in the shop but I could tell my cousin felt embarrassed and she ordered quickly without actually getting what she wanted. I felt so sorry for my dear cousin and although I wanted to buy many of the baked goods I decided I wasn't going to give this woman any of my business. I'm pretty sure the woman didn't care either way. What a shame and what a horrible way to...
Read moreVisited in October 2020 With brown paper bags covering in the window advertising their daily edibles, you could easily just walk by this place, but don't! The smell as you walk through the door is heaven. Stepping inside is like stepping into a brick n brac shoppe - but it's not! There are church pews if you want to eat and drink inside - who wouldn't with the aroma. Everything is baked fresh for that day and you can watch them playing with their ovens. Many choices of cakes, patisseries, sandwiches - when visiting I had the bacon sandwich and a flat white and sat outside as the weather was nice. The bread bap was to die for - I really didn't want my breakfast to end (I know that sounds corny but it was the truth). Unfortunately you cannot buy the bread as I wanted to take some away with me, its just used for their menu. I did however take some pain au chocolat with me and a very large cookie. You can also buy preserves, pickles etc to take away with you. The team are great and friendly and have everything in place during this time. This delight is not to missed if you want to grab a coffee or something to eat and to support local...
