I'm a Texan and constantly on the hunt for any Tex-Mex or Mexican food in the UK.
We made a reservation for what I thought was brunch based on the website. I saw Eggs Divorciados, Chilaquiles, and Cornbread with caramelised pecans and cardamom butter on the online Brunch menu and booked specifically for these items.
When we got there it turns out they were between menus and only had small plate options. We are veggie/pescatarian and got the sweet potato tacos, baja fish, corn ribs, potato wedges, and guac. All of the above were delicious. The salsas and tortillas were great. The fish tacos were a really generous and well fried portion of fish.
The cocktails were AMAZING. The spicy marg and coconut mojito were both great and a twist on the norm.
I am still gutted about the brunch (cornbread especially) as these are dishes I wouldn't make at home, whereas I have a tortilla press and we make tacos and salsas quite regularly. I'd suggest maybe taking the menu off the website altogether until it is accurate to avoid disappointment.
Overall, though, I would go back for drinks and snacks! I'd also recommend to anyone who fancies trying authentic Mexican food on the island and doesn't cook it themselves.
Thanks for a great last...
Read moreFresh, tasty Mexican food evidently prepared with skill and care. Service was attentive and friendly. We visited on a quiet early Sunday evening so likely didn't see the restaurant's full potential for atmosphere, but it was perfect for us after a busy day on the island. My partner particularly enjoyed the fish tacos, while for me the courgette calbacitas and refried bean dip were standouts. We had no problems with choice for one vegetarian and one person who doesn't eat red meat.
Everything was well flavoured and satisfying without being heavy, and it was clear that the ingredients used were high quality. A very enjoyable meal which I have already recommended to friends who visit Cowes more regularly than I do. A lovely...
Read moreWe came in on a Saturday before going out Cowes for some drinks - none of the 6 of us had ever visited before. The service was good, and we all ordered the same menu items, guacamole and tortilla chips to start and Beef brisket tacos as a main. The guac and tortilla chips came and was a small dish of nachos with some tasteless guacamole- the avocado wasn’t mashed well, and there was nothing in it apart from some chopped tomato. I was imagining warm nachos, tastey guacamole, melted cheese and salsa - alas. The beef brisket tacos were ok, they could have been more flavourful and I left...
